I am left handed Pitcher and outfielder at The Kings Academy and I want to play at Stetson. The main problem is I have had injuries the past 2 summers so I have not been able to really get my name out very much. Last year i hit .393 w/ 2 hr's and 21 rbi's as a sophmore. is it too late to have a chance at Stetson?
Here is the BIOS on a young man that played against us last season that was unsigned after his senior season and is now at Stetson. Jon Still from Mississippi

This young man was a highly recruited athlete. He turned down Ole Miss and Miss. State to attend Stetson. He signed early with Stetson - not after his senior year.
We do have to be careful about putting out wrong info - even by accident. My suggestion to everyone is that if you do not see something in writing do not post it.
I'm sure Chicksdigthelongball heard through the "grapevine" that he did not sign until after his senior year and that was why he posted here. Please be careful as we don't want to get Bob sued over something as silly as this. I'm not deleting the info because I believe it was an honest mistake and it sounds like this young man is a great player. I know Stetson likes him a lot.

They wouldn't, it is just important to get the information right. The complaint would be more valid if you had said that someone had signed somewhere else and it cost them an opportunity at another school because someone believed it and called the college coach and stated that so and so signed with another school. The player you named clearly signed with Stetson. What was in question was when did he sign.
We have had people claim that they heard that someone "signed" with someone, when it was not true.
Thanks Bighit, I will try to find the announcement. I know there were lots of folks wondering why he had not signed during his senior year. It could be that it had already been decided but not announced, I don't know.

I found this tenative list of signees known at beginning of Senior season. You can somewhat derive a time frame from those dates of players that had signed. Jon Still had not signed at that time. Mississippi Class of 2003

Chicks The Stetson website in late 2002 said he signed early. The coach at Stetson Jr. Day in Feb. 2003 said he was signed. He is there playing now. What is your point?

I checked too but its no longer in the web archive. They re-did the website in the last 6 months and probably deleted it. I did see it then. He signed with a couple of Orlando kids we know. It was public knowledge here.

You are misinformed. Why are you slamming this kid? Do you have an agenda?
I can tell you he signed early. I know the coaches well. Former Stetson coach Terry Rooney, now at Notre Dame, was thrilled when he signed this young man.
So why are you trying to paint this young man in a different light?
dad, I believe you, but no articles from Jackson, Vicksburg, Orlando ever mention the signing until May 2003. We had not heard of it here all thru the senior season. That's why I was really curious as to the exact date.

Dad, Thanks for looking that up for me. Jon was kinda like the local boy hero in our area and we never knew he had even signed. One game he came to our park and blasted like 3 home runs in one game. He is an awesome player.

colin, this is the year for you to shine. have your HS coach call stetson on your behalf. follow that with a call to the coach yourself. ask the coach about their select camp. try and attend that camp this summer. visit the campus so that you can speak to the coach personally and ask about scholarship possibilities. have a few backup schools in mind but left handed pitchers with command always have a chance.
