Thanks FlaHokie! A buddy's son plays for one of the teams listed so I want to keep tabs on them. I get to see him play in a couple weeks.

Amazing that the state champs in 6a get ranked behind a team they beat enroute to the title. Flanagan also returns just about everybody from the year before, including their pitching staff. I dont see too many teams beating them this year, could be another repeat.

08Catcher... While there was certainly some objectivity in the makeup of this poll, I think it's fair to say there was clearly some subjectivity as well, not to mentioned the possibility of some creativity by Steve S. I wouldn't take it too seriously, and certainly not personally. At this point, all it does is create conversation.

Am assuming you are a soph. at Flanagan. All the best to you and your team. We'll see you on March 24.

No my son goes to western high, but i have coached or played with or against some of the kids on that team. They are just a good team. We played them very close last year until our ace ran out of gas. This year they are in our district and we have improved in all areas of our team especially the pitching, it will be another good game this year hopefully better for us. Wink

So, one week into the season, and no less than seven teams in the top 25 have lost to unranked teams, including top-ranked Mosley. Underpins my position that pre-season polls are great for opening conversations, or perhaps arguments, but little else. They're fun to anticipate and dote on, but the game on the field is where the focus needs to be for the boys now that season is under way.

That poll is less than objective or informed, imo.
