I am looking for possible places to stay in the area when my son's baseball team will be playing during Spring Training March 3rd-6th 2006.

Here are some condo's where my son's team stayed the last two years. Actually there were 3 or 4 teams who stayed there. Great place and about a mile from the fields. They are usually booked well ahead of time, but maybe you can get lucky. It's around $145 a night.

Us poor folks stayed at the Days Inn two years ago for about a half that. Not the best, but we only slept there so it wasn't that bad. It was centrally located and not that far from Pirate City (Pirates spring training facility).

There are some great places right on the beach $$, but 20-30 minutes away from IMG (depending on whether the draw bridge is up or not Big Grin.)

There are also a bunch of hotels by the Bradenton Airport, but they are a long way away from the fields. The hotels right outside of Sarasota are actually closer. We stayed at a Howard Johnson's in Sarasota last year. It was pretty close to the fields, but about the best I can say is the rooms were clean. Roll Eyes

Good luck and have fun.

bmx05,

Josh is doing well, thanks. We are planning on doing the CA portion of their spring trip. Looking forward to it! Then a couple trips to NH. Senior weekend against Harvard and then GRADUATION!!! I might get to retire yet!

While in Bradenton, if you check out Pirate City you also need to stop at Mixon Fruit Farms which is about a mile away. Great ice cream and free samples of citrus, etc... The wife bought so many oranges we ended up giving most away. We aren't used to the good stuff here. Frown

Beaches are nice. Nice drive along beaches from Bradenton to Sarasota.

Hopefully the weather will cooperate.

We usually stay at the Holiday Inn on the out skirts of Bradenton while we are there, also a new Holiday Inn Express is in the process of being built less than 10 minutes from the fields, but I'm not sure when they will be completed.
