Per JT's request, here is a new IDOL thread for 2008. Couldn't think of a clever topic name. Hope we have even more participation than we had last year
All members from every state/province/country are welcome
Cleveland Dad - thanks for the welcome for those of us from other states!
As there is nothing on TV, I think the ratings will be huge this year for Idol. I'm not too excited about the weeks of auditions but my family thinks its fun!
Along with Taylor & Ruben's contracts being dropped, I read that Fantasia's run on Broadway ended on Jan. 6th. Clay's going to do Spamalot on Broadway.
Kellie Pickler's done a better job than I thought post-Idol - she's taken that "dumb blonde" act all the way to the bank doing respectfully well on the country charts and is dating Nashville Predator's Jordin Tootoo (according to US magazine).
I know I liked Carrie Underwood but never would have dreamed about her becoming a superstar. What an awesome role model for young girls - hope she keeps it up. Like her music too.
As far as Taylor Hicks is concerned, I'd love to go hear him play at a bar but would probably never (and did not) buy an album.
I guess Kelly Clarkson is now using Reba's husband as her manager - would love to see a country album. Loved her duet with Reba.
IMHO- I guess the key for post-Idol success (and I guess with every career) is to work your butt off!!

Are we starting our weekly meetings on here tonite?
I'm Luvbb, and I'm an "Idol-aholic"
I probably won't be here - UK plays tonight! Besides, I have everything under control and really don't need the peer support any longer. I can do it by myself.
Where is the remote.... what time is it on.... oh......

Bless his heart! He's going to come again next year, but will sing "more contemporary songs". He thought they let him go because he chose Christian songs!
So far, we're starting out like normal! A lot of people that truly believe they can sing and they sound like me!!

This is what I don't like about all this...the same as last year....they never show the good talent for the most part. I remember last year, when they got to Hollywood I didn't even RECOGNIZE most of the people there because the show had concentrated so much on all the BAD performances up to that point.
