Not to butt in to your forum but I was just given a schedule for the Colonels/Travis Alig Memorial and was wondering if anyone sons play for the Ohio Yankees, KY Baseball, Colonels, or Bearcats?
Sparky you are welcome in our forum anytime as we are open to all hsbbweb memebers and welcome them
Oldslugger8's son used to play for the Yankees I believe but now he is a freshman in college. SIBullets or lafmom may know some kids on those other teams.
You are correct CD, BK played 3 summers for the 18u Ohio Yankees, with several games against the good folks in both KY and Indiana.
The Bulls from Indy always put together a great bunch, and Walt Terrell and the guys outside Florence at St. Henry's Field have their annual event where the Yanks competed. Those were fun times.

If someone knows, please tell him to stop by and let us know how things are going.
Thanks for that link CD! I have followed Eric and he's one of the most enjoyable pitchers I have ever seen - all HSBBW friendship bias aside! He came back last year after being off for a year with labrum surgery and threw unbelievably, just to have his velocity drop and issues begin with his elbow. I got to see him throw against Louisville. While many kids would have done a "why me" thing and given up, he has only seemed more determined. I applaud the kid so very much and am planning a trip to watch him when he gets back this spring. Hopefully, I'll get to see JohnLex's son in that same game!
Grateful started a new job along with all his other commitments and I believe has just been really busy. I'm sure he peeks in from time to time. You know it's hard to cold turkey HSBBW!

If I may without it being seen as promoting my son. Here are his first two bullpen sessions as a freshman in college(Fall 2007). Little shaky, but fun nonetheless.
Again, thanks for letting a Texan invade your forum.
Those are great videos - he throws a nice curveball and he has a changeup that acts sort of like a screw ball imho. We are looking for more people to share experiences. I'll see if I can get my son to create some youtube video. That is a great idea expecially when you are hundreds of miles away like we are. There are no invasions on this forum btw as we welcome all members from any state.
So far, practice is going well and he's adapted well in the move back to 3B after not playing there for 2 1/2 years. He's pretty fired up and LC should have a pretty good team this year.

Today my son and I went over to Palm Beach Community College for their alumni baseball game. Prior to the game they had batting practice for former players and Dante Bichette is an alum. He put on a clinic hitting the long ball. The winds were favorable, which is unusual at this particular field, but it was obvious that even after being retired for a few years he could still jack.
During his 2nd round he finished hitting with only one arm and he hit a ball over the left field fence, it was amazing. Apparently he used to do it all the time during bp before games. I had never seen anything like it.

Oldslugger, we have mixed it up with Walt and those guys for a couple years now. You are right, it is a good time and they are a good bunch of guys. I look forward to seeing them in June. Those kids in Ky are pretty lucky kids. Walt is an awesome guy who gives back. Its pretty impressive to me.
On this fine 8 degree morning in Kentucky, (yes, I know it's colder "up north" but hey, this is COLD for us) it's fun to talk about spring baseball! My son's team is a very young team, only 1 senior and 15 true freshmen and a couple of redshirt freshmen! I'm pretty sure that full team workouts don't start until 2/1, but since he went back to school on the 7th, they have been working their tails off! he told me last week that there are going to be special positional workouts for catchers....at 6:30 am, starting Tuesday.

It shouldn't be as cold here as it is in Cleveland! Good to hear about D! Tell him we say hi!

My son's team has been taking their 4-1 batting practice at the Ripken Complex in Myrtle Beach. Any of yours ever played there? They have many nice ballfields there.
BS is off to a good start as full practice started. UK was able to get on the field Saturday for a 6 inning scrimmage and BS went 2-4 with a 3 run HR! If he keeps working hard playing time should be there in a few weeks?
Good luck to everyone's sons as they head to the start of the 2008 season!
Do parents earn frequent driver miles for traveling to see the boys play? LOL! Wouldn't that be nice?
