AHHHHHH....Indian summer in the northeast...is there anything better? Mild temps, leaves just starting to turn color on the trees, mums are in the flower pots, windows are open, fall is in the air. What could be better? If the Phillies had won that darn wild card race! I miss baseball already!

Frankly no, there is nothing better and that is one of the many reasons I like living in the North. I too miss October baseball with the Indians but I love following the MLB playoffs nonetheless
I thought the Phillies were going to squeak in there but it was not to be. They have some fine building blocks for the future.

Ahhhh....woulda', shoulda', coulda'!
It is going to be a looooong 5 months without Utley and Howard in my life! I just don't have any team that is in the playoffs that interest me. Guess I'm just going to have to suck it up and root for whoever is playing the Mets!

I remember Indian Summer very well and quite honestly enjoyed it immensely but I always knew that in a few short weeks it would be cold, damp, rainy (particularly if I was there )and might snow at any miinute.
Then I discovered that in Florida you could pretty much count on very similar weather from mid-october til late April. Ok so I don't get to see the changing colors of fall. It takes you almost two to three years to realize you missed it.
One thing we do have in common is I miss baseball to.

And, if you DO decide to venture into my area...please give me a heads up so I can run to Home Depot and pick up a bag of salt and snow shovel!!!

Actually I was up in Ocean City Maryland over the weekend and it was beautiful. Either I broke the hex or the weatherman didn't get the word I was coming in to town.

All those in favor of shunning jmepop raise your hand!
NOOOOOOO...I actually feel "sorry" for JMEPOP....just imagine.....if you HAD to live with 80 degree weather ALL YEAR LONG.....wouldn't you start to get a little "bored" with it?!?!? And...those palm trees.....they don't turn those brilliant shades of orange, red and yellow in the fall, do they..they just stay that SAME OLD shade of green?!?!? Plus, I'll bet it gets a little monotonous having to slather sun screen on day, after day, after day. Yeah....I feel SORRY for Jmepop....that's my story, and I'm sticking to it!
P.S. And let's not even bring up the subject of "hanging chads"

Its not just bugs and critters but just about every person over 70 years old that lives north of the Mason Dixon line. It does make for some harrowing driving during the season but least I never have to shovel the driveway.

yup, & they make the drive with their turn signal flashing for 1200 miles
That is too funny. My dog thinks I'm crazy because I am laughing so loud. My husband does that, and while I am not usually paying attention enough to notice, it drives my son nuts. A friend from up North said the other day that she didn't think they made turning signals on cars in the South, because no one ever used them...guess they are all just burnt out!

Looks like Indian Summer has bitten the dust here in PA (and I'm sure it is the same in Ohio). Daughter called from Penn State saying snow showers are expected today! Geez...it's late October...wonder what took that snow so long to get here!

I am looking out over the Cuyahoga Valley as I read this luvbb and it is snowing
Of course, the reason it is snowing in October already is due to Global Warming. Oh ya, that heat wave we had a few weeks back that caused you to create this thread, that was caused by Global Warming as well (sarcasim off).
Seriously, they were blaming Global Warming for all the hurricanes last year. Well.. this year has been a down year in hurricanes. The company line now is that Global Warming causes wildly unpredictable weather patterns...hence fewer huricanes than last year is not a surprise
When I lived in Wisconsin, we used to say we had just 2 seasons: Winter and the 4th of July. Some years we amended that to Winter and "Road Construction."

Sorry to report this but I'm here in Houston on Business and it was a 72 degrees this afternoon! You would think it was winter down here the way the locals are all bundled up!
I do hope it warms up for the Blue and Black World Series and the parents picnic this coming weekend at UK. I guess the players need to get playing in the cold just like the do in February and March.
Maybe I can bring some warm weather back to Ohio with me on Friday?
