What is the competition like in the CABA World Series held in Euclid, OH starting 7/21. My team is going there and went last year and faced really good competition. Should we expect the same?

HC - this tournament is an excellent show case imho. There are lots of pro and college scouts there so if you play good, you will be noticed. This is where my son was discovered and led us to the school where he is at today.

Please let me know your team, your number, and when you may be playing and I'll try and stop by and say hello. Especially let me know if you are playing the Mentor baseball team when the time comes and I'll be sure to stop over and say hi Smile

HCB - Keep an eye on Bergen Beach. They're always loaded with talent from all over. Also, one of our posters (Ruste) has a son who will be playing in it. Maybe he can elaborate on who the stud teams are.

Ruste, contrary to some other opinions around here, I'll do everything in my power to stop up and meet you Smile I just remembered that CABA generally posts the schedules so I'll look for your team and HC's. Cool stuff Smile

I'm not sure about Griffy Jr. I know he played for Midland though, but Helton, Damon and A-Rod all played for Bergen.

Quite a lineup. The only team I know about besides Henry Clay is Kentucky Baseball Club. They have some great players from across the state and have a good shot at winning this.

They are a team made from Champions Baseball the new place out Nicholasville Road. Most of the talent out of Lexington plays for these teams they have I believe 13-18 year old teams. The one going to CABA is the 17u team including Robbie Ross and Nick Maronde, 2 outstanding pitchers. A lot of Catholic players also like Wes Cadwell and Travis Redmon if you recognize those names.

Oh yeah, I'm familiar with Champions, but have never heard of that team. I knew Lex Cath doesn't have a summer team and their players have done a variety of teams in the summer. That's interesting. Do you know who coaches them - just curious. I'm wondering if it's the same group that used to have KY Elite which was around for a couple of years and had some Champions folks involved.

Yes the KBC Teams are also like the Elite teams. They are made of basically the same players. Mark Redmon coaches the 17 year old team that is going to CABA. I learned we play Mentor at 5 on Sat, and then on Sunday we play at 8am, and 2 pm, and Monday we play at 11am. All of my teams games are at Mentor High School. Can anyone tell me how the field is there?

Decent high school field that is fun to play on. No lights but new dugouts, press box, and concession. Fair distances about 325 down the lines and 380 in center. Not too far from Lake Erie so it is beautful in the summertime if you can manage to get a breeze coming out of the north. Of course, in the spring, well...lets not go there Big Grin

CD, I also see that your son's team will be playing at your high school. Where is that from the Holiday inn Express on Heisley Rd. ?

Ruste - former team that is Smile

To answer the question, you are 3-5 miles away which means approximately 5 minutes or so by freeway. You will get on RT. 2 off Heisely Road and head West toward Cleveland. Get off at the very next exit which is Rt. 615 and turn right when you get off the exit ramp. Mentor high school is just a few blocks down from the freeway exit on the right (first light) and it is impossible to miss because it is a behemoth hs. Here is a tip. You can go past the high school and go clockwise all the way around it to get to the hs field. If you park near the woods rather than continuing around, there is a short dirt road from the parking lot that is a very close walk to the field. Either way will get you there however. You should see a bunch of cars parked up near the woods when the school first comes into view at the traffic light.
