Tony Gwynn will be at the Player's Dugout in Elizabethtown, KY for a hitting clinic on December 16th and 17th. For more info visit their website at http://www.playersdugout.com

I have no affiliation with this company. I recieved this in an e-mail and thought that some younger and HS kids would benefit from this.

This sounds interesting tas. I think my son might like this except I am not sure yet if he'll be home from school on those dates. I'll check with him later this morning.

Any idea how far a drive Elizabethtown would be from Cleveland? I may use this trip like one of those Christmas gifts that luvbb has been looking for Smile

CD - Elizabethtown is just west of Louisville - if that helps you any or about an hour and half from Lexington. I bet there's a lot of boys that would like to meet Gwynn - good idea for Christmas present too!

Well, I was lazy this morning and was hoping I would just be given the answer Big Grin

Actually, it is a quite simple 6 hour drive from Cleveland to Louallville. Basically, take I-71 the whole way from Cleveland through Cincinnati and on to Kentucky.

To get to E-town, as we call it, from Louavul Smile you take 65 South and it takes you right through there.

Beezer - we are pretty lazy when it comes to pronouncing some things. Why say 3 extra syllables when you can shorten it like that Roll Eyes

Also, ever heard Hopkinsville called Hoptown? For a long time I didn't know it's real name Big Grin

My son informed me this morning that Kentucky is too far a drive during his limited time at home. He said he'd love to see Tony otherwise. Alas, we could have had a mini-convention why those guys were getting hitting lessons Smile

I've heard of "Hoptown" as well. I did a couple huge projects for the utilities down there years ago so was in many of the various burgs like E-Town and Hoptown at some point. In fact, my crews would prefer to stay in E-Town when in the area so they could eat at the local Ryan's! Do they call it E-Town in the movie?

There was actually a movie just out called Elizabethtown and it was filmed there. I think it was actually a love story and flopped at the theatre though. Smile

My son may actually go (haven't heard back from him yet) - so if there are other posters there, let me know.

My daughter watched the movie. She liked it. I think it was because of the leading man. Who I forget at this time.

Enjoy! A Cameron Crowe film.

Plot Summary for
Elizabethtown (2005)

Hours after a ruinous product debut, suicidal industrial designer Drew Baylor (Orlando Bloom) learns of his father's sudden death. As the only son, Drew must travel to their small hometown of Elizabethtown, Kentucky to attend to his father's memorial. On the flight to Kentucky, Drew meets Claire (Kristen Dunst), a quick-witted flight attendant, who helps him navigate the rough waters ahead and proves that amazing things happen when you least expect them.
