Just wondering if any of y'all could give me any info on the Lima, Ohio area. Safe area? Rural or urban? etc. Also, how do you all pronounce Lima? Is is like lima beans or LEEmuh or what? Thanks for any info/help!

To answer a later question first, it's LI-ma, not Lee-ma. My parents live about 30 miles away from there, and my brother has worked there. I guess whether you would describe it as "urban" depends on what you are used to. If you live in a city of over 200,000, you would describe Lima as rural, but if you grew up in a town of about 2,000, it would seem urban. It's population is about 40, 000
My family is from Lima - its a wonderful place. Very diverse from each side of town. I still have family there and its an excellent area to be involved in baseball.
Player'sDad - I'll have to check with my son about his former HS teammate. I'm pretty sure it's Lima he's play at. I don't know if they have an entire league there or what. I'll check and let you know.

I've been in and through Lima many times. It is a small city, not a small town. I, too, have found it a confusing city to drive through and around, but I think that your son will enjoy his summer there.
The Lima summer team (I think they are called the Lima Locos) is part of the Great Lakes League, which is one of the premier collegiate wooden bat leagues. Your son will face tough competition and play on some very nice fields.
Hope he enjoys his summer in northwest Ohio!

I grew up in Lima. Like all places there is good and bad. I would call it a mid size town. Its nice, nice places to eat and shop. The better areas would be Shawnee, Elida or Bath. West side of town is better. Towns close by like Wapak and Delphos are more rural farming communities but great schools. Housing is affordable. It would be a good place to raise kids. 1 1/2 hr drive to Toledo, Columbus, Ft Wayne and Dayton.
