Thanks Laf! The team hasn't had much time to practice because of the weather and the flu bug. But, that means more time in the gym. And these boys are working hard. Coach waits until the basketball team finishs their season to hold tryouts. We have some that are going to tryout. I am waiting patiently for the season to start. Yea, right.

It may be a long season!!
Goodeye - That is a funny story! Keep us posted on your son. It often seems that although this is the HIGH SCHOOL Baseball Web, that most of the parents are college parents. All of us enjoy hearing about the guys that are still at the HS level!!

I went to a practice last Saturday and one of the new boys looks like he may be able to help us out, pitching wise. He had good form and had some zip on the ball. I haven't seen any hitting yet. I hope to see some this Saturday.
Tas - I think we're suppose to have some decent weather Saturday, but tell them to try out fast! LOL I think Monday and Tuesday aren't looking too well! Good luck to C!

The first pitcher we faced was a righty. Probably 80-85 MPH fast balls, wicked curve, and when he realized the plate ump was calling strikes on the inside lower half of the plate, he would put it right there 1st or 2nd pitch. The next one was about the same, except his fast ball had more movement. Woodridge's coach said that these were is 3rd-4th starting pitchers. They played Clay County earlier in the day and used 1st-2nd starting pitchers.

My son has one of those from his old travel team. Pretty cool aren't they?

You can tell that Knott is rebuilding this year. They have played 4 games and lost all 4. This team is young. It's going to be a rough season. Cody is doing OK. He pitched his first varsity game Friday against Betsy lane. And boy what a game. He looked good the first couple of innings. Striking out a couple of batters and getting the others to fly out or ground out. I kept looking at him on the mound and with his hair longer than usual, I was thinking Jared Weaver, just without the velocity. The 3rd inning is where it went crazy. Knott was leading 7-0 and in the 3rd Betsy Lane scored 5 runs, 2 earned and 3 on errors. Knott went scoreless in the 3rd. KCC 7 BL 5. Cody came out of the game in the 3rd after a pretty good outing for his first start. Betsy Lane scored 9 more runs in the 4th to take the lead. BL 14 KCC 7. Knott scored 7 runs in the 5th. That made it 14 -14. The game was then called due to the field conditions. Betsy Lane's CF made an outstanding catch while sliding in the OF. The umps then made the decision to call the game because of safety reasons. Crazy, crazy game. The rest of this game will be played next week. Knott did play Powell County the next day and looked pretty good, even though losing 12-2 to the top ranked 14th region team. Knott was one error and a base running mistake away from having a better game.
