I've been talking to Luvbb. Penn State is scheduled to play a 4-game series here in Columbus against OSU the weekend of 5/19. She is planning to make the trip. Since Columbus is in striking distance for many of us on this forum (2-3 hours), what do you think of trying to meet up? You could see some great baseball, and we could probably come up with a respectable amount of wine and ice cream to add to the festivities. I just thought I'd throw the idea out there and see what you all might think. Luvbb and I will certainly both be there!

lhpx2 - That is a fabulous idea. I was thinking similar things and was actually thinking of just showing up and surprising her.

Count me and probably my wife in party

Oh BTW, I'll have no problem rooting for PSU to win the BASEBALL games. Now FOOTBALL, well lets just say that topic is one that luvbb and I need to approach very gingerly Big Grin

CD - This might offer the perfect opportunity for the reunion we've spoken of! I'll have to PM topdogfan as she hasn't been on much - she might be able to come with me! I'm excited!!!

That sounds like a great plan lafmom. Columbus is fairly centrally located for many of us and they have a beautiful stadium I am told Smile

I was all for it until I read that! Mad

I was thinking more along the lines of "copious", "insane" or "ridiculous" so count me out!!!

Just kidding....my son has a DH in Toledo on 5/20 and then it's my daughter's graduation party on 5/21. He has a DH that day too but don't think that would go over too well.

Yes, the stadium is beautiful, easy to find, and the parking is plentiful. I'll volunteer to be the official "Event Coordinator." And I already promised luv that we would all be rooting for Penn State!

Beezer- Given your obligations, I don't think we would even ALLOW you to join us. Mrs. Beezer would have our heads!!

On another note, by that time surely the weather will be good, don'tcha think?

As much as I would REALLY enjoy meeting these fine folks, it's just not going to work. Frown And I don't know about your heads but mine would definitely be on the chopping block!

That's ok, CD and I have already planned to meet to discuss....what was it CD...a "baseball nuance and strategy" discussion?

And yes lhpx2, the weather should be perfect by then! Hope you kids have a great time.

Oh, shoot, I misread the month - thanks to topdogfan for pointing that out! Unless son's team is in the playoffs, I'll still plan on it! But, I'll have to wait to definately commit.

If my son is not playing in the state tournment that day I might travel to see the Buckeyes. My son hit the past three winters with one of the new freshman outfielders at OSU. I know we would like to meet all of you and see him play also?

Oh My.....Didn't expect this much response already! This is GREAT! And...you don't have to root for PSU....as I told Lhpx2....just please don't heckle my son! clapping Like Lhpx2 said...we will both definetly be there so whoever can show up, the more the merrier. Not sure if I'm travelling solo or with the family at this point. I am going to definetly drive tho so I can venture down to Cleveland to visit my best friend after the series. This could be a real blast! Lafmom...no Ale-8 please! Eek

sounds good
by May 19 most of the snow will be gone and it could be downright pleasantSmile

we have U that weekend in Atlanta and all 3 are TV games so it's tivo time and/or the sports bar

wouldn't it be ok for the Bucks to win one game if Joe went 4/4, 4rbi,
and threw a couple guys out?

eh, luvbb "down to Cleveland" can only be done from Canada

Yes, unfortunately, because we are all baseball parents, it is entirely possible that we may have baseball obligations elsewhere that weekend. It works out great for me because my son's college team has that weekend off, with Big South Conference Tournament scheduled to begin the following week (and we'll just have to be optimistic that his team will be there!).

We may all have to "play it by ear," but at least keep the date on your calendar and see what transpires.

CD - I'm not sure when we travel but I'm thinking it would be Saturday morning so I may be able to sneak down to C-Bus if everybody else will be there. But don't base any travel plans because of ME. I just assumed everybody would gather for the Saturday (or Sunday) game.

luv - No heckling from me. I'd rather root for a friend's son regardless of the jersey he's wearing.

lhpx2 - leave the key under the flower pot just in case. I PROMISE CD, Bee and I will behave!!!

Laf - there's only one way Ale-8 is "good" and that's even questionable in my book. I'm thinking that would make Beezer a VERY funny boy! drunkard
