OldDude - Centre is not known as a strong baseball program. It's a DIII as you probably know and we have some strong DIII programs in this area - Transylvania U here in Lexington. Centre, however is in one of the most beautiful small towns you've ever seen. The college is expensive and not an especially diverse campus. It has a wonderful academic reputation and a fairly stringent admissions. I can't tell you off the top of my head how many games they usually win - but I don't suspect that number is very high. The field is a very nice field for a small school and a struggling baseball program.
The town of Danville is about 45 minutes away from Lexington which is where most of the students commute to on weekend to do things. The drive is safe, but does consist of primarily two lane roads. The town of Danville is considered very safe and students can easily walk around campus to the downtown area - including after dark. There just isn't a lot for students to do in Danville. Danville, itself, is a very supportive atmosphere for athletics. The two local high schools there have produced some good football and baseball athletes and the town gets behind the college as well.
You might want to send a PM to Playbaseball who's son almost went there.... they visited, talked with the coach, etc. She can offer a perspective that might be helpful to you.
