My son just returned from the NABF world series in Millington, TN. While he was there he was scouted by the pitching coach from Murray State. Upon first glance it appears to be a very solid academic school, albeit it plays in a fairly weak baseball conference. Any feedback on the school and coaching staff?? All the coaches appear to be recently hired.

mdhsbbfan,

My son will be returning for his soph. season at Murray State. The University is IMHO the best academic public school in the state. You won't find a more beautiful campus. Very safe hometown atmosphere. Yes, the coaching staff is new. They are looking for the right attitude, or you won't be there long, I can tell you that. I think they are heading in the right direction. Though the conference is mid-major, the non-conf schedule is very strong, with the likes of Miss. State, Ole Miss, Vandy, UK, UL, South Alabama, Memphis and more. Send me a PM if you would like to know more..

I talked to one of their staff last weekend and he said they were going to start recruiting kids who already had a good work ethic and not ones they had to instill good work ethic in. Sounds like he has the right idea and does'nt want kids who he has to pamper and make work hard, he wants them to be that way on their own.

Thank you for the info, I have received interest from Murray State but was unfamiliar with their program. I have been to the campus while I was on vacation. They have great facilities.
