My son is. It sounds like a good showcase. Co-workers son attended last year and said the guy who runs it is a great guy and that it is ran well.

Got2BMe - welcome to the hsbbweb Smile

I like your screen name and it looks like it may become an instant classic. If your son is a second baseman also, well that is just too clever of a play on words Smile Again welcome!

I glad you like it! Thanks for the welcome. Nope, you were very close, my son is a catcher. It's me that plays 2B on my oldtimers softball team Wink You know the 2-3 games I can get in, between all my son's games rotlaugh What I need now is a good 'Catch' phrase quote and a decent picture under my name.

gametime, how did your first night go? Which color shirt did you get? I hope you did and continue to do well. My son hit well and thinks he drilled very well. EKU is one of his top college choices and the EKU coach was in charge of the catching drills, so he was happy about that as well. It's going to be a great experiance for him since there are 6 teams and he is one of only 6 catchers at the showcase. greenjump

I am just a pitcher so my only time to shine was when I threw really. I was on the black team. I threw very well, probably the best I have thrown all summer. Which team was your son on?

Sorry, I didn't get the chance to see you pitch, but I am glad you did well. Lot of kids from the Flames on that team, so should have been a well watched team by the coaches/scouts.

My son was on the Royal Blue team. He was telling me last night that after his and the red team caught all those innings, they shorten the rest of the games? Did you get to pitch to more than 5 kids? Did you get to bat? I guess we will know what the scouts/coaches thought when the results get mailed in a couple weeks. Be sure to let me know, especially if it's good news Smile Are you playing in the fall High school league?

I got to throw to 10 batters. They were only letting some kids throw to 5 if they were position players as well. I don't really bat, so I didn't feel the need to make myself look bad for no reason, haha. I thought it was a pretty good showcase all around though. And yes I am playing in the elite fall league.

We thought it was a pretty good showcase as well. My son got asked to play in the elite fall league as a result of his 'good' showing there. Is the league as good as it's promoted to be?

I played in it last year as a JR, and I had a 'so-so' experience. It all depends on what team you get drafted on. My team was pretty bad. But some teams are really competitive. Usually seniors get the most playing time and most chances because most of the time their names are more well-known in the Cincinnati scene. But for 115 bucks, I think it is a pretty solid league.

Got2BME...I would highly recommend that you play in the fall elite league. Gametime24 is right about the draft and what team you get on. But most games are scouted and if you are good enough you will get an invite to the showcase. Last year the showcase had about 40 college coaches and a few pro scouts. Out of that showcase last year my son received 5 DI offers! Good value for the buck.

Thanks BuckeyeCat! If it weren't for your advice earlier this summer, my son wouldn't have had the chance at something like this. Now to worry about the draft and an unknown name on the Cincy scene... OK, Well I worry and it makes him more competitive, so all will be OK.

I am looking forward to hearing all about your son's success at UK!

Got2BMe...no problem. That is what is nice about this forum. We are all here to help each other out.

I wouldn't worry about the draft in the fall league. If your son performs well he will be noticed. That league is not about winning and losing games. Tell him to bust his butt at all times because you never know when someone is watching! I wish you the best of luck and remember hard work pays off.

Gametime24...I will give you two clues! He wore number 8 and he played for Wayne High School. Ok one more clue, his initials are BS.

Name that player! LOL!

gametime24, Did you get your evaluations from the camp? I thought they were pretty accurate, but wondered what 'Instincts' includes? My son scored highest in that tool, followed by arm strength & accuracy, lowest in hitting & power. He was contacted by the EKU coach who worked with the catchers and was asked to come for a prospect day. He is definitely going to go. Draft is next Sunday let me know what team you get on, maybe my son will be catching you. Good luck in the league. PS were you able to guess that player?

I too received an email from the EKU coach and I am also going to the prospect day. My evaluation wasn't what I expected. It didn't have any velocity readings or anything of the sort. Just gave me a 4 star present rating and 5 star future rating.

Beezer...I know you know! I thought it might be neat to play a little game with the newbees?

Glad to see that you and your family are doing well. It is hard to believe that it is time to send the kids off to school and college.

It should be an interesting fall?

Oh, ours got REAL interesting last week. The golf coach called her to tell her he resigned to take another coaching job elsewhere. They play in probably 4-6 weeks and have no coach! Roll Eyes

But otherwise, I think we're ready to ship her off!!
