I'm literally counting the days until baseball starts. How do you occupy your time between fall ball and the spring season. Hibernate? Catch up on movies or books from the year? Clean the cobwebs from the corners of your house?

What does your son do with his winter time. Is he "shut down", running at the gym, playing a winter sport, helping you clean those cobwebs around the house?

Lets see here:

1) For me - easy question - spends too much time on the hsbbweb Big Grin Spend time watching sports on TV such as College and Pro football, College and Pro basketball.

2) My son has a workout schedule that he is expected to meet which includes lifting and running. He does alot of hitting and fielding with his teammates on their own. He has been battling a groin injury so hopefully we can get that healed up before he goes back to school on January 8th.

It does feel like baseball will be here in no time. Their 1st game is scheduled for February 10th which doesn't seem too far away Smile

CD - Me too! (HSBBW) I need to get busy on some of those cobwebs I was talking about! Roll Eyes

I guess that most of the college kids will continue to stick to their workouts during the winter. Michael used to play in a recreational basketball league during the winter to help with his HS conditioning, and I think he'll probably miss that this year.

I try to watch every move the Indians make and determine if they're going to get to the World Series. Then I watch parts of the Browns games, until I get too frustrated.
I read when ever I can. The latest books are The Travelers Gift by Andy Andrews(excellent inspirational speaker who now has a special on PBS) and Kevin Trudeau's Natural Cures "They" don't want you to know about.
I also check all the college websites of kids I know who are playing to see if anything has changed since the last time I looked.

I know you guys will hate me for this but I know you have a sense of humor.

I walk on the beach, work on my tan, play golf and occasionally find a youth baseball game to watch. Oh yeah I have to work too so that does limit some of the other activities.

Living in Florida does have its benefits.

jmepop - CD may be "trainable" but I've already got years of golf ball searching experience. Sounds like I'd better come down instead. Cool

Don't you remember that UPS commercial; the guy would say "What can brown do for you?"

Beezer,

Actually...I don't remember seeing that commercial...but that could be because I was glued to "QVC" with my credit card in one hand and the telephone in the other! Wink

CD, Beezer

Just get one more volunteer and we have a foursome. No training really needed, just grip it, rip it and sip it, who cares where the ball goes.

Come on down.

With the snow they're calling for up here, you could put together a tournament if all interested parties came down.

I had a few extra minutes at work today and decided to google my sons name to see what pop'd up and came across last years all-area team. I hadn't realized that 6 out of 13 first teamers in the large school classification had been drafted and two more 2nd teamers as well. Seemed like a pretty high percentage but figuring this is Florida and these kids get a lot of exposure year round it might not be that unusual.

So you ask what I do with my time until baseball, I look at stuff I have already seen until I have some new stuff to look at.

Moving over from the Illinois Forum - Hope you don't mind. I'm coaching basketball. Back in it after a brief leave. Our basketball program is not very good and has not won a conference title since 1975. Our school has had very few winning seasons in that time. Now, new head coach and I'm doing JV. The challenge is overwhelming but at the same time, it is a new challenge and one that makes me feel young again. BTW, we pulled off a major upset last night. Otherwise, we run 70 kids through our cages on Sunday afternoons. We work with a program that has become a feeder system for our school. We have kids teams starting at 9 and going through 13U coming in. These 6 teams amount to our future and so, we want the kids to know the hs staff and do our system starting at an early age. We also do coaching clinics for the coaches of each of these teams. Well, that's what we are doing. Take care!

Actually....I spend my baseball "off-season" involved in my daughter's swimming season (which just happens to fit in PERFECTLY with little to no overlap between the two). My daughter's conference, and therefore swim schedule, isn't so widely spread out geographically like son's baseball schedule, so I'm able to get to a majority of her swim meets. Truth be told tho....I much prefer sitting out on the sidelines of a nice baseball diamond than in the bleachers of a hot natatorium....but a mom's gotta do what a mom's gotta do Big Grin Plus, I can count on losing a good 5 pounds while sweating during each swim meet which means....more Christmas cookies! Big Grin

luvbb - haven't been on lately but in answer to your question about what does my husband look like - I think all UPS guys have the same look! but at 54, he's beginning to show his age but I won't tell him that, at least not too often! They even seem to all go to the same hairstylist.
I actually haven't seen him too much lately. He's been pulling in about 10 or later these days. I hope he hasn't had any extended stops enroute since you're not the only one who has a thing for a guy in uniform!
