None of us are very surprised, but are very happy for Chad!!! Congrats to Chad, mom, and dad!!! clap

Astros Single A affiliate is here in town! When Clemens visited this week, he's bought new electronic equipment, carpet, etc. for the locker room! It's a very nice facility and great local support!

You're right, Lafmom -- How could we have forgotten about the Astros-Lexington connection. Do I smell another HSBBWeb "reunion" in Lexington when Chad is playing for the Legends?

No doubt, those Hot Browns will be washed down with a little Ale-8 Razz

Ahhhh, Kentucky cuisine at its finest!

lhpx2 - Might not be able to beat the brew of the Ohio gathering, but I'm positive we can do better than Ale8!

Oh, I know -- we can sample some mint juleps!

Seriously, it would be a great time for all of us, not matter the food or the drink!

Thanks guys, you're making me smile! Much too kind!! The little one was stomping and slamming things around, muttering under his breath...(we were told he'd go much earlier) Smile Chad was unfazed as always, waiting for the call. Hopefully he goes out now and shows them what he can do! He talked about Lexington, but thinks he'll get sent to Troy. Have to wait and see. Thanks again and good luck to all this summer! hi

It's not where you start, it's where you finish.

Getting drafted is a huge up, even if it's not as high as you'd like. Keep things in perspective and realize that Chad is getting drafted ahead of thousands of people who would love the opportunity to get drafted.

If Chad shows the organization things when they see him pitch, it doesn't matter whether he went in the 22nd or the 2nd. The best players move on up, and the others are branched out. Chad starts from scratch, and the only real difference in his journey and the 1st rounders' journey is the team he begins on [possibly] and the dollar amount.

Tell Chad to just keep working hard. If you work hard, anything can happen. Nobody ever got anywhere on talent ALONE. Well, not too many.

Congrats again to Chad and family. Years of work, time, and effort have helped Chad to get him where he is today. With the Houston Astros.

I'm excited and relieved, can't wait to see what he'll do from here, relieved that he gets to play another day. When he didn't get taken the first day we talked about the possibility of him not getting drafted, and the good times we've had getting to this point. The friends we've made, the places we've been. Getting to talk with you people and reading about other peoples baseball experiences has been a blessing, and for all this I'm very thankful.
