Tasmit, What did you think? There were teams from all parts of the state which is good. There's two or three teams I personally think are ranked way too high. I would have picked Lexington Christian higher - I think they have most back. I was also surprised to see Heath excluded. Maybe they lost alot of players, but they were one of the best teams we played last year. They made a couple of critical mistakes in the state tournament against us, but I thought their team had a lot of class and was a very good team and well coached. PantherFan's son's team is ranked 7th - we'll see them several times of course and they will be very good. Then, there's several teams I just don't know well enough to have an opinion on. Overall, a good guess I suppose. Only time will tell!!!!!

I'm glad to see some EKY schools in the poll. I really believe that some of these schools are starting to take baseball more seriously than they have in the past. I looking forward to this season. We'll have more to give this year.

We've had more boys to come out for tryouts. And we have 21 on the roster. We've even had 7 to come out that were in the 7th to 8th grade level for our JV and middle school teams. That being compared to 3 years ago which was 0. The coach was very happy about that. A couple of these boys may even end up playing varsity within the next two seasons. One has really impressed me with his skills at third. He is one of those in the 8th grade and already he's throwing the ball like a soph.

So, another week and we're off and running! greenjump

The 11th Region is loaded again, 7 teams in the top 25. With 2 more teams left out, that will be ranked by season end....Woodford Co. and Madison Central...both have many returning players....

Hi Mr. Baseball - The Madison Central scrimmage with Lafayette (a little over a week ago) was tied 1-1 after I believe six innings. I actually left around that time when all JV players went in. We started substituting in the 5th with JV - Madison Central may have too - I'm not familiar with all of their players. Madison Central threw a lefty to start their game who looked really good. Lafayette was slow with their bats, pitching looked good. Our top pitcher pitched our first two innings.

I agree with your comments about Madison Central being left out of the polls - they're are always a sound team. One of Lafayette's losses last year was to them. They have a very good outfielder who is going to school with my son - actually going to be his roommate. Lafayette and Madison Central will play a couple of times during the season.

Here is the new KY Poll for the month.
As I said before the season, I thought Heath should be ranked (as of today, one of only two losses by Lafayette). So glad to see them get some deserved recognition. Lexington Christian has also moved up as they should have. Continue to be a couple of teams that I think are up too high.

Tasmit - Eastern KY continues to be well represented - what's your opinions?

New State Poll
1. Christian County
2. Lafayete
3. Pleasure Ridge Park
4. Ballard
5. Lexington Catholic
6. Male
7. Trinity
8. Lexington Christian
9. Eastern
10. Harrison County
11. Henry Clay
12. Owensboro Catholic
13. Dunbar
14. St Xavier
15. Pikeville
16. Johnson Central
17. Henderson County
18. Daviess County
19. Apollo
20. Rockcastle
21. Heath
22. Lawrence County
23. Tates Creek
24. Danville
25. Corbin

This season has been an interesting one. The 14, 15, and 16 regions usually have 4 dominate teams, but this year there are maybe one or two. Ever team is almost even with the exception of those teams that are dominate. A few surprises would be Perry County Central, Corbin, and Pikeville. Pikeville is a very strong pitching team, but didn't look to be a contending team. Same goes for Perry Central.

I am hoping for more South Eastern teams to make it to state.

Tas - The 11th region is very similar in that I'm not sure there's really a dominate team. We got beat by Lexington Christian Academy tonight. I know it seems silly, but I'm kinda glad. They're not in our district, so it doesn't hurt us in the brackets. Our guys have received so much attention that to remember how long of a road and how hard you have to work is a good lesson to have driven home early on.

Lexington Christian has a good ball team and should be a contender in the 11th region along with us and several other teams. All in all, I think most regions are fairly balanced.

Anyway, a lot of ball still to play before the big show.

mchs - You do have a good ball team. The best teams will remember that they can be beaten on any given day. Lafayette has three losses - two that I think they should have won - didn't play nearly to their potential. One loss to a team that I think is a sleeper (in Western KY) and I expect to see in the state tourney. Good luck to your guys - nice group of people and the coach seems like a nice guy too. We'll see you all this weekend if your tourney isn't rained out.

mchs - the polls don't reveal everything as anyone who truly follows KY baseball knows. MC will break the top 25 - I've said you all should be ranked since before the season started. I also said Heath should be ranked and I believe in this last poll they were 21st. There are a lot of good teams in the state and a lot of variables in wins and losses. People know you all have talent even if you're not up in the polls.

Take care.

Should be a good weekend of baseball in Richmond this week 3 teams in the top 25 and the other should be. But the WeatherMan may not be kind to us. High 46 Saturday "yuk" . Hey check out Kentuckypreps.com has a lot a things about the 11 th Region and around the state some good some bad, makes for interesting reading. Play Ball duel MCHS needs to win 2 of 3 this weekend to crack the Top 25. If they belong they will, if they don't they won't. 3 for 3 would be a great weekend for MCHS......that may be a stretch, they have to be thinking more about the games than prom, Prom will be there when your finished....What position do you play for the Indians MCHS ?

Mr. Baseball - You sound like my son. Nothing ever comes before baseball. I always remind him though - not everyone lives and breathes baseball. Those that do however, usually reap the rewards!
