Has anybody heard anything about the Smokey Mountain Tournament this coming Thursday-Sunday. I saw an East Cobb team was in it...any word on how their team is?

HC - I'm not sure who's in the tournament this year. Lafayette's summer team almost always went to it every summer. I personally like the area and the baseball played there. There was never a huge crowd of coaches/scouts, but there would be a few roaming around. I assume you are familiar with Lafayette and I can tell you that they never went down there and swept a weekend. So, IMO, there's some good competition.

Yes I am very familar with Lafayette. As a matter of fact, I played there for a year but now play for Henry Clay. We are a young team considering we lost 12 seniors, so I'm hoping to face good competition

HC - I assumed you were from Henry Clay. I did not realize y'all had such a large senior class.

I think you'll enjoy the tournament. They do have a sign saying 'no coolers' allowed, but they never watched this very closely and we always took coolers in with ice and cold cloths. Gets very hot in TN this time of year and that park has almost no shade for us old parents.

Just got home from Dandridge, Tenn. We fared quite well down there. Don't know if we won it but had a record of 4-0-1. Time limit forced a tie game. I came to bat with runners on 1st and 2nd and 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th score 2-1 and i hit a ground rule double so only 1 run scores. If the ball doesnt bounce over the fence we win the game and go 5-0 but oh well. Good tournament and good teams. Best team we played was East Cobb this morning and won that 4-3.

HC - Glad to hear you all did so well! That was always one of my favorite trips, although the weather is much nicer in the fall than the summer. I'm in Nashville right now and the temperature is not very pleasant!!

Found out today we won the tournament. Glad that tie didn't cost us the win
