That was truly sweet lafmom! Thankfully I'll only be traveling a few miles this year. We are slated for some severe weather beginning tonight but I don't care since it is my favorite holiday. I truly wish the best to all of you and your families as well.

I am thankful for many things. One thing that has been special this year is the commraderie that has developed in our little slice of the world in this forum. We now have regular posters from three states but also attract people from all over. One year ago, the forum sat idle for three months at one time. Now some of our threads have hundreds and sometimes thousands of views. I encourage people to continue to post new topics to keep things interesting and alive. I feel blessed to have met all of you.

maybe a phone call will suffice , take care

I already posted in the Gen Items forum, but, for those who may have missed it, I just wanted to say my Thanksgiving Day Prayer will definitely include the many folks I've gotten encouragement, advice, a few laughs and a few tears from on this site, especially this forum. I am very thankful I stumbled on this site when I did.
Have a great day!

My son made it home safely last night after a two hour weather delay out of Newark. Thanksgiving dinner at home with the family tomorrow. The weather even has a crisp fall feel down here in sunny Florida.

I want to thank my new friends here in this forum for allowing me to visit once in awhile.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you, but no cranberry sauce in this house, if I want jelly I am gonna stick with Welch's grape.

Have a wonderful holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving to all and I hope the ladies were able to find their "cranberries with ridges". I felt dirty writing that for some reason. Red Face

Happy Thanksgiving to all of my new friends here at the O,K,Pa forum. I think it will make the winter go by much faster being able to talk a little baseball. Before long we will all be heading back to the ball park ready to take on a new season! ClevelandDad might be a little longer getting to the ball park than the rest of us because of all the snow he gets but I'm sure he will be able to dig out and get south in February or March? Bring on the pumpkin pie!

Happy Turkey Day to all! Enjoy your kids and families and stay warm. It's down to 65 degrees down here (FL) so I've got to go build a fire! Take care!

Bee,

We have not yet been hammered as of yet. The weather reports are often wildly inaccurate and sometimes seem desiged to keep one glued to the TV watching the latest weather forecast Eek

CD, at the Akron - Kent game we tailgated about 250 yrds from the main gate - at times we could not see the bowl or lights
on the upside we had deep fried turkey, stuffing, pablano peppers, and some adult beverages - not including "ale 8"

homeland security would NOT let the ridged cranberry sauce into the game - tho I suspect they really had ulterior motives in it's confiscation Frown
(my bet is they took it home)

there was a great crowd, but it's doubtful that would be noticed on TV since they were mostly on the pressbox side, sheltered from the wind, as were the TV camera sets

those on the visitors side had a constant 40 mph wind with snow in their faces - they were either numb or dumb, or both

have a great Thanksgiving

Bee--

So who were you rooting for in that game?? And I've got to tell you that it didn't sound like fun at all!! I've always maintained that baseball is a much more civilized sport where they call the game if the weather gets too bad. My "football in the driving rain and/or snow" days happily ended when my son's playing days were over. It would take a boatload of "adult beverages" to get me to attend a game in those conditions Eek

lhpx2,

I am hoping my bad weather baseball days are over. Several years ago at a spring hs jv game, we were at Bay Village which is near Lake Erie. It snowed throughout the game and they never called it. It was 20 degrees above zero with a below zero wind chill factor when the game ended. I don't think adult beverages would have helped that day. I kept running to my car to regain circulation.

CD --

Though it will certainly be better than Cleveland, I'm afraid your son (and you if you so choose) will be in for some
"adventursome" weather in Feb and early March. South Carolina isn't THAT far south!! I was never colder in my life (and, like you, I've been through some cold days watching high school baseball in Ohio)than a game the first week in Feb last year in St. Petersburg, FL. However, I can pretty much guarantee that you shouldn't see blizzard conditions (and, if so, they will certainly call the game Smile)!!
