For those of you who might be interested, here is the pre-season poll of the Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association:
1. Lexington Christian 2. Pleasure Ridge Park 3. Louisville Eastern 4. Christian County 5. Owensboro Catholic 6. Lexington Catholic 7. Louisville Male 8. Louisville Trinity 9. Boyd County 10. Harrison County 11. Lexington Lafayette 12. Lexington Tates Creek 13. North Hardin 14. Louisville Ballard 15. Louisville duPont Manual 16. Louisville Butler 17. Louisville St. X 18. Calloway County 19. Lexington Dunbar 20. West Jessamine 21. Lexington Henry Clay 22. Covington Catholic 23. Heath 24. Henderson County 25. Danville
I would note that if anyone is looking for the toughest baseball district in the state, look no further than the 43rd District. All 5 teams ranked in the top 20 in the preseason.
John, Very interesting! I thought it was about time for the poll. As usual, there are some teams that I'd agree with and some that surprise me. There are a few schools that always seem to come in low in the polls to begin the season, but end up ranked highly. I can't quite figure that out? Heath is one in particular.
No doubt, the 43rd has always been the toughest in my mind! However, it's a blessing to be able to face the tougher competition in the state! Don't get stronger by beating weak teams!
Go Generals!!!

lafmom Heath probably got their raking b/c they are the best team in this region. They have a very good history recently in the "All A" tourney, and they have been to state in the last few yrs and finished pretty good. Plus they have 2 very good pitchers, Clint Tilford who signed with UK and he may even be a draft prospect, and Daniel Webb who is junior(I think).

Lori - I probably didn't make sense in my post. What I meant is that Heath is not ranked highly enough IMO. I said the exact same thing last year and sure enough they ended up moving up in the polls. They are one of the teams that always seems to be ranked too low in the beginning of the season.
John - Just so you know, you can't mention Lafayette's Florida trip ever again!!!!! I'm too jealous that I won't be a part of it anymore!! Toooooo many fun memories!

Thanks SIBullets, I couldn't remember since my son is out of HS it is hard to keep up with who's what around here. Congrats to Tyler Bullock!!! He's coming to APSU!!!!
Sorry!!! I did miss read, but I did get to sing Heath's praises. They have a great coaching staff a couple of the guys are former competitive coaches for Paducah Storm, Matt played for them.

Lori - the season (Michael's junior year) that we were state runner up, Heath was the best team we faced all year, including Christian County that we lost to in the finals. They made a couple of errors which were critical in allowing us to beat them. Then last year we faced them in Florida at the beginning of our season. While Lafayette was missing that star CF due to an ankle sprain , they beat us and looked very solid. I really like their coach too. They're always solid and a very classy team.

I must admit, I have become attached from a distance to that Lexington team listed at number 11. You can't know lafmom like I do and not root for the Generals.
That said, I am hoping for big things from all the hsbbweb players from Kentucky. I read all the updates to the High School Experiences thread so please keep them coming
Thanks CD and back at ya for those boys from Mentor! I do love my Lafayette kids!
I can't wait for the HS season to start and I'll post some of my thoughts on the HS season in the HS thread. I'm looking forward to hearing about all of the HSBBW HS guys as much as the college and beyond kiddos!!
Ohhhh, spring and baseball!!!!

I see only one Northern Kentucky team on the list (CovCath). For my fellow Kentuckians, do any other Northern KY programs have good reputations? My kids go to a small private school up here and we're looking at potential high schools for baseball.
I don't know if this is applicable to your situation, but there are several outstanding Cincinnati private schools (e.g., Elder, Moehlor) that recruit kids from Kentucky. For what its worth....
Will, I'm not familiar enough with Northern KY schools to recommend a particular one. Here's a link for a KY forum if you're not familiar with it where many N KY folks come to discuss baseball. I don't visit this site alot because there's a lot of bickering by kids (and parents) over who's best...... However, you might be able to find some helpful info.

There is a lot of bickering on there. BGP is mostly a football and basketball site. There are some guys that are well informed baseball guru's. To name a few, there is "Strike3", "Augger", "NWO", and "Baseballfan13".
I'm a member and talk baseball with these guys a lot.
I wish that Southeast KY could get a team listed in the top 25. I know that may be a long way off. We aren't as populated and have less talent to choose from. Anyway, we, Knott County Central, play Harrison County in their tourney.

first off.. im a sophmore at Campbellsville High School.. i am starting this year in Left Field and i was just going to inform some of the people that post on here that we have a very good team this year. We have a 6'4 senior by the name of Nick Holmes that has topped the radar gun at 98 mph and in currently signed to go to Louisville. we have a very fundamental and consitant shortstop that is out leadoff. We have a awesome catcher that might go to St. Catherine or WKU and we also have a 3rd baseban that is going to Campbellsville University for Football that has incredible power. and the main reason i say that we are good is b/c these are all seniors and are returning starters. We have doubters but i think this year can be a good one. in this poll i think Male is number 2? well we just finnished beating them 12-0 last night and Jared our 3rd baseman had 3 HRs and 9 RBIs. just to let yall know of our growing program.
