Nate - I'm not familiar with this camp - maybe some of our Ohio folks will be. Is it at OSU? Regardless, I would suggest that you contact whoever is running the camp and ask them for their preference. It will never hurt you for a coach or school to know you have interest in them. Once they clarify the procedure for you, you can then have your coach follow up. I'm guessing that they will probably say any form of communication recommending you is appropriate and fine with them. Gives you a good excuse to contact them though! You didn't ask for this advice - but I'll give it anyway! Relax and enjoy yourself! While you need to be proactive and aware of what's going on around you, I fully believe the best thing you can do for your chances to play college ball is to perform well on the field and in the classroom. Set a good example for all when off the field in the choices you make in your life. Best of luck to you and please join us again and feel free to ask questions. You and the other young men around here are what this place is about!

Hi Nate welcome to hsbbweb the Buckeye Scout events are pretty worthwhile for local/regional exposure, the August event has been also called Ohio Top 100 (for rising srs), and if you feel you will fit into that group, you should have a good shot but it is invite only (plus fee $$) and there are only 100 invites (there are 88 counties in Ohio, so, all-county caliber would be a guideline for the invite) take some time & brouse the recruiting tips/timeline section of this site (there is a pop out menu on the upper left part of this page) tho Fisher's Buckeye scout events are quality, there are several other outstanding organizations offering BETTER exposure & enough events that you'd have some flexibility in your schedule visit the PG website for info & schedules on their events - call them if questions - you can speak to helpful real humans on the phone Perfect GameTeamOne baseball is OK as well, BUT - no phone, no humans Class B at Cene also does a summer showcase/recruiting seminar I understand some stress/worry if you put all your eggs in Buckeye Scout basket - so don't do it - send your coach's letter, then forget about it and concentrate on PG & others - it's not wise to expect much from the OSU event anyway, if it's your first as it's already at summer's end good luck .

a point of clarification Fish's Top 100 is good, fun for the players to get together & gets colleges & pros out to a great venue - - NO brat festival like the old days in Bucyrus, tho also NO more running the 60 on 3" wet grass (next to a perfectly groomed football field) also NO more pop times checked on "throwdown bases" paced off in LF - also in 3" grass it's NOT ideal for college exposure with early NLI in mind because it's too late - (read link) PG's - Are Times Changing
it has some value for a last look if you are already on their list, as college visits begin a week or so later to re-emphasize - make plans for PG ID's etc or a showcase or 2 or beginning asap after hs ball is over UK's Weisburg crossed my son off his list at the '01 T-100, .

Ha ha...was that at Wilmington that Coach Woolf did that?
Anyhow, the coach got a warning from the school. Some parents were plenty upset. Coach Woolf was getting on people for taking great 1st pitches. Jerry took one down the middle, and Coach ordered him to finish the at bat without his bat. 2 more pitches and he was out. I thought what Coach did was just ridiculous. But, I still have to respect him as a player.
Anyhow, it was the only game that Jerry's grandpa got to see of him all year. Jerry was worked up and was actually in tears after the game. Hard to see such a tough kid getting emotional.
Also, if I was in Jerry's situation...I would have put my bat down and tried to hit the ball with my hand. I think it would have made a statement to the coach. Then again, I probably would have gotten hurt, lol.
If I was the empire, I would have ordered Coach Woolfe to order the player to pick his bat up and hit.
BTW...I looked up the ruling, and according to the rules...you must have a bat in your hands to be up at the plate. Terrible job by the ump.
