I would consider Transy one of the better DIII programs in this area. The coach has just been there two or three years. That has perhaps been the biggest challenge - or one of the biggest challenges for Transy. They have had constant turnover in coaching staff. Transy is a very academically focused school. I always find it a bit amusing when people talk about this being different from one school to another. However, I know that Transy has lost coaches in the past because of the conflict of academics meets athletics. Their field isn't on the campus, but it's a very nice field a few miles away. The types of players that I have known play for Transy have been solid HS players that contributed to their HS teams and they have been able to be productive there. It's a program my own son might have considered for the baseball, but the academic requirements and challenges were out of his league. As far as UK, Cohen recruits heavily here at home as well as up north. I have seen kids choose to go there (as they do with other programs as well) and sit the bench for four years. Much of a decision in regards to college ball is what makes that kid happy. If it's a dream school, a player might be happy just being on a roster. For others, that's a death sentence for baseball - they want to be a big contributor and could care less about the school initials. Most kids that could make the roster at UK are going to be able to contribute at Transy. Hope this helps some.
