Well, I have been caught up with those PHabulous PHillies! Actually, I was lucky enough to be at the first two playoff games. Tonight's game vs. Sabathian was AMAZING, and I have to give a big thumbs up to the Phillies fans tonight who get a bad rap alot of times. But tonight, they were truly the 10th player! I have NEVER been to a game with the electricity that was in the ballpark tonight! AMAZING! Let's go Phillies!

I wondered if you might be there. I caught a few inning of Meyers pitching. I don't follow the Phillies, so not overly familiar with them, but they sure impressed me... along with Meyers who was magnificent!
Lot of good teams playing. I'm sad for the Cubs and their start.

The Virginia delegation has been covered up with an accreditation site visit looming for the major I work with. So busy that I have only made two intrasquad games this fall

We are heading down in a few weeks for five days to attend my son's final fall world series. It has indeed been the best of times.

I have been dropping in from time to time but have not had much to add lately.
I am currently staying at my parents house in Delaware trying to take care of both my parents. I have been up here now for two weeks. I originally came up because my Dad had surgery scheduled to improve his circulation in his legs. The surgery went well but at his advanced age the anestesia really caused him some serious problems. For several days he was experiencing severe confusion and hallucinations. Fortunately that has finally cleared up but one of his incisions has taken much longer to heal than expected. I was able to finally move him to a skilled living facility yesterday so I think he is close to being fully recovered. The bad news is last Thursday night my Mom who has advanced dementia had to go to the same hospital with congestive heart failure and I still don't have much of a prognosis. I have pushed out my departure everyday for the past week due to the uncertainty of the situation.
I do have a little positive news regarding baseball. Lafayette completed the fall season Thursday and Joe did very well in the Maroon and White World Series. I don't know the exact stats he put up but believe he went 7-11 with a home run and several RBI's in the four games played.
This has been a very trying couple of weeks and coming here and catching up has provided a good distraction. All prayers will be greatly appreciated.

Mike - I am sorry to hear about the trying health issues your Mom and Dad are having at this time Definitely send my thoughts and prayers to them for healing.
In times like these, batting averages and earned run averages can seem trivial to those who are not involved with the sport. At the same time, it kind of shows the healing power of the game where good performances can lift our spirits at just the right moments sometimes.
I am sorry to hear about your parents' health problems. I know it can be a very trying time. Good thoughts and prayers being sent their way from PA. Also, congrats to Joe on a great fall season!

luvbb, I to was at the game and agree with your assement about the fans. 44000+ had a great time and defineitly helped those Fighten Phillies advance. The few nuts who give us (phily fans) a bad rap must not have been able to get tickets. Amen to that.

Not many cool, fun stories to share. It's just fun to spend the afternoon on a nice sunny day, watching some generally good baseball.
IB Jr2 and Lil Beezer are playing for a fall team that is 50% Juniors and 50% Sophomores. Every weekend they've played DH's mostly against 18u teams. Like I said before, we've won some and lost some. IB Jr2 has spent time on the mound or MIF and Lil Beezer is in OF when not on the mound. Each P gets about 2-3 innings per game I guess so everybody gets some time on the hill. Even though IB Jr2 is "playing up" he's done VERY well in all phases of the game!!! He's had some outstanding time on the hill, some key hits and some great plays from the field! Even though it's fall and not nearly as intense, they still have to pitch, hit and field against typically older, more experienced players.
It was a bit of an eye opener a couple weeks ago to be facing some of the better seniors from the better schools in CD's neck of the woods. One of the dads mentioned that several players we faced had verballed or will be committing to various big name D1 colleges. I think we split that day (and actually only lost game 2 in the last inning or so).
It would be interesting to hear IB's thoughts. We're headed to Tennessee on Thursday for a tourney to end the fall season so maybe we'll have some fun stories after that!
JME - My prayers and thoughts going out to you and your family buddy!
