I meant the recruiting efforts. Thought it was part of a "debt". Wink

By the way, is JP injured? Could've sworn I saw him over the weekend.

Tasmit - If you have the preseason rankings for KY, I'd love for you to post them. Perhaps other lurkers would as well.

My daughter told me Tates Creek in Lex was #1? That would surprise me!! Lafayette hasn't won this week at home, but has shown some very bright spots. I haven't made any games, but am getting those scouting reports! Big Grin

Lex Cath has a pitcher who's being scouted very heavily. They had the OF, Revere, who went last year.

Hope KC is doing well!

Laf, I have this past weeks rankings.

1. Pleasure Ridge Park
2. Apollo
3. Paul Dunbar
4. Lexington Catholic
5. Eastern
St. Xavier
7. Tates Creek
8. Henry Clay
9. Lexington Christian
10. Male
11. Heath
12. Henderson County
13. Christian County
14. Barren County
15. Owensboro Catholic
16. Lawrence County
17. Covington Catholic
18. Trinity
19. Mercer County
20. Elizabethtown
Shelby County
22. DuPont Manual
23. Ballard
24. Bowling Green
25. George Rogers Clark
Letcher County Central

KCC isn't doing well at all. Changes are needed. And I think that it may happen before the season is out. This past week KCC was beaten 35-0 by Clay County. That has never happened to the baseball program in it's 30 years. The boys are getting discouraged and wanting to leave. But they are sticking with it. One thing that is really ticking them off is the HC is talking about how well his Summer team did and how good that they were. Then turns around and says that you(KCC) don't compare. They aren't near as good. Which ticked me off. And it hasn't been just one time, it's been for the past 2 weeks. Cody is discouraged, but wants to win so bad. So far KCC is 0-8. Things have to look up from here. I hope.

Quite interesting. Louisville and Lex schools are dominating the top this year minus my favorite team of course! Smile

I hope KC hangs in there. I guess that's one of the consistent things about baseball and perhaps any sport. It's a true test of "team" when they're loosing. Very easy for blame and lots of negativity to bloom. Hopefully, they'll find a way to get it together. Hopefully, my Generals can move into the rankings too! Smile

I saw my first HS game last night. Lafayette of Lexington vs Dunbar of Lexington. I didn't really think Dunbar lived up to the expectations of what I'd heard and I thought Lafayette performed better than what I expected. Dunbar won by one run.

If there is a clear frontrunner in the Lexington schools, it's Catholic.

Finally some good news to report. Knott Central got their 1st win of the season this past Friday. And the winning pitcher was none other than my son Cody. He pitched 4 strong innings striking out 4 and allowing 3 runs. Knott won the game 9-7 over South Floyd. Coach almost let this one get away, though, by taking out most of the varsity and putting in some of the younger kids with a 7-3 lead. In the 5th South Floyd scored 3 runs to make the game close. But, Knott came back and scored 2 more runs and held back South Floyd to pick up the win.

Knott is looking better. They played some tough teams this past week. Knott played 14th region rival Jenkins and lost 9-6. Then, yesterday, Knott traveled to Cumberland. Cumberland is a tough 13th region team with only 1 loss. Knott lost the game 14-7. The game was closer than the score indicates. Cody went 1-2, 1 hit, BB, SO. And he scored a run. So, it wasn't a bad weekend of baseball.

Something needs a bump! How about a little HS update!

State tournament begins here in Lexington for our state tomorrow. We have no class system here, so this is it for everyone. The teams will be St. X out of Louisville, Louisville Christian Academy, Harrison Co., Lex Catholic, Apollo, Pleasure Ridge Park, Greenup County, and Lawrence County. A couple of historically top programs with a couple that are known for good programs along with a couple of underdog type teams. Don't know who I'll root for - perhaps Lex Catholic as they're out of Lex. Harrison County is one of my all time least favorite teams! PRP I believe has the kid from the former national little league champ team - he was drafted this year.

In Ohio, we ended last weekend. By the way Tas, that Ohio team you played in the spring went pretty deep in the state tourney.

Our finals are tonight. Pleasure Ridge Park (20th in the nation) and Lawrence County will match up. I suspect most people would give the nod to PRP as their pitching is most likely deeper. However Lawrence County threw a kid (Lewis Michael) today that was superb! Good luck to both teams!! Smile

Tas, where are you BTW!?!?!

Our lil' guy (14) filled in on an 18u major team, got drilled by a first pitch fast ball (left tricep) in his first at bat and went 2-2 after that. It wasn't enough though and we lost 12-2 in 7.
Poor little guy had a lump on his arm but never flinched, flipped his bat and jogged to first. Stickers gonna hafta put some meat on those bones!
Also hit a homer on Dublin Jeromes varsity hs field yesterday, Fathers Day... Not too shabby for a 130 lb stick boy. And old dad somehow never got the ball?! I was pressed into coaching first because a few coaches were missing, other wise I probably would have gone after it myself and kept it! Kinda scary, suckers gonna be a freshman next yr. He needs to put some weight on, an I aint talkin' ta Barry.

We thought we were, they'd already cashed the check. Confused But they cut back on the number of teams and we were out. Kind of a bummer because it was so close to home! Are you in?
