Great idea Lafmom: My son is playing for the Havasu Heat in Havasu, Arizona. It is a wood bat team in the Pacific Southwest Baseball League in the NBC (National Baseball Congress). For a PA guy, he's finding playing in 112 degree heat "interesting"...but hey....at least it is DRY heat out there! He wondered why everyone looked at him strangely when he waited around to help "tarp the field" the first night after practices! http://www.havasuheat.com/Oh yes...if you check out the roster, you'll see that Bullwinkle's son is on the team too!

How apprapo....lafmom.... My son is playing for the Front Royal Cardinals in the Valley League: http://www.frcardinalbaseball.com/bluto/sites/sports/sp...t_no=301&site_no=118It was very eventful getting him there today I am sure luvbb or PAmom will recognize some of the following locations. I sent him from Cleveland and he was supposed to catch the Ohio turnpike 80E which turns into the the PA turn pike on 76 east. He never took 76 east and stayed on 80E until he felt he may be lost. I get the call "Dad have you ever heard of Snow Shoe Pa" I said what?????? Got a map out and this is near State College PA and on the way toward Harrisburg ....arrrrgh...... I had to retype his location into yahoo maps and replot the trip for him from Snow Shoe to Front Royal. He was 200 miles from his location. Got him on 99 south back to 76 east, which took him through Breezewood to 70 east. From there he has made his way to about 15 minutes now from final destination. Burned many cell phone minutes tonight

ClevelandDad, Your son is on the same team as a friend of ours - Chris Vasami - and a former teammate of my eldest son. Chris is a heck of a player - and has had a solid season with Elon and HighHardHeat's son. Best of luck to Tyler!

Great idea lafmom ~ thought about this the other day, all the college boys coming home for the summer, and here I am sending my son off for summer ball. . . He's playing with Savannah Chain, along with his week-long trip to Oklahoma (top 20 juniors in the state playing in Sunbelt Classic). We drove him to Savannah yesterday, but he will be back in Atlanta next week for a few days (East Cobb) before leaving for Oklahoma. CD ~ feel for you having to burn minutes and navigate from home. Hope he arrives soon!!

Sad to report that for the first time in a LONG time, I do not have anyone playing baseball this summer . In fact, as I mentioned to luvbb last night, I came to the realization that I have had someone playing baseball in the summer since 1982, when my oldest (29 years old today) entered T-Ball. That's a lot of innings between then and now!! My almost-college-senior decided to forego summer ball so he could stay on campus and take a couple of courses. This way, he should graduate ON TIME next May. Tough to argue with that! And my middle son decided to officially retire from minor league ball rather than try to come back from injury. He seems very happy with that decision. He's finishing school and should graduate next March. Soooo -- I guess it's time to pack away those nice folding baseball chairs we have, at least until next spring when we'll break them out for our final season of college ball. Where oh where does the time go?

lhpx2 - You can always head down to Nashville and share a spot with me! I know I felt odd this memorial day, because it was the first holiday weekend I could remember since t-ball, my son wasn't playing baseball. We headed up and took in the Reds game though on Sunday to help with the adjustment! Just think what you can do with your summer now - paint the house, do landscaping, remodel a room, visit inlaws........ or just head to Nashville!

Lafmom-- I LOVE Nashville, so I might just take you up on that offer... And let's hope Michael doesn't love it TOO much -- he's got important baseball to play! Actually, not to hijack this thread, but you have a lot of interesting baseball being played in Lexington this week. Between the CWS regional and the prospect of Roger Clemons pitching a minor league start for the Legends, Lexington will be THE place to be for baseball. What will all those crazy basketball fans think of THAT?
