I think once they get to Hollywood, they are allowed to play an instrument.

I like the bikini chick the best but not as a singer.

I wonder what instrument she will play in Hollywood.

luvbb - nice to hear from you Smile

Other than Taylor Hicks (which it turned out I was right about) you and I pretty much see things the same way. Stevie is only 16 years old but there is something very special about her. I was taken-a-back by her looks at first - never quite seen someone who looked like that (her almond-shaped eyes), but then realized that is part of what makes her unique - no one else in the world looks like her. She is beautiful in her own way with a fine voice.

I think Scott will get a lot of sympathy votes even though he appears quite talented. Enrolled at ASU when he was 14 years old... Like Taylor, I don't believe he has the "it" factor. Stevie might have something on the other hand.

I didn't like any of them. Not one of them, to me, had the "it" factor.

Come on everyone this is entertainment, they put on the best and the worst on to keep us entertained.

The best part, first time in 8 years got to watch the first show with son home, some good laughs.

You might be right about that TPM. They had so many clunkers on last night that the few good ones seemed pretty good. My wife and I had the most fun laughing at some of the outrageous performers. Sometimes it does feel like the gong show. Simon, as always, is the best.

It is always interesting to see what happens when they get the crowd to Hollywood. Some people you never saw on the preview show will turn out to be real talents - and others who you saw get their gold tickets just disappear.

I was pleasantly surprised with bikini girl - she actually could sing.

I wasn't surprised that they put both of the 16 YOs that they put through (Arianna and Stevie).

Scott, since they teased his story all show, I assumed was a slam dunk. While I thought he was good, he did not blow me away.

What about that guy with the deep voice? Wow - can't sing at all but the voice was unreal...

Another good take 08Dad!

The guy with the low voice probably could sing with a band like the Oak Ridge Boys or the Statler brothers. Only problem was his word pronounciation skills were lacking Big Grin

Anyone else think the new lady judge (what's her name?) made a fool out of herself when she started singing the song to bikini girl? I really didn't get that and agree with bikini girl... she wasn't much better. Not sure if the judges should try to showup the contestants by singing the same song back to them. Bad first impression for me! I think she will be a bad addition.

Yeah I didn't think that was a very good thing to do. She also called bikini girl the B word when she stood up.

But if they did have a cat fight I would definately watch on pay per view because they were both pretty hot.

I thought the new judge needs to take a chill pill... She has all the power - why stoop to the level of getting into a fight...

I totally forgot to watch last night. From what y'all are sharing, I'm sorry I missed Scott and the bikini girl. Hopefully, there will be some memorable contestants in tonight's show!

Seems like there is already more talent in KC than in AZ.

Another Castro goes to Hollywood. I thought it was interesting that he said Jason was more "girlie" than himself. I felt HE was quite the girlie one, (not that there's anything wrong with that) and I liked his voice as long as I didn't have to look at him.

Agree with your assessment - visually he didn't work for me either.
