Okay....whirlwind weekend here....daughter withdrew from her university and decided she didn't want to be the "college athlete" anymore...wants to experience life as a regular co-ed. Can't say I blame her, but it has been really stressful. She is now home with us and will be transferring up to Penn State in the Fall. So we had THAT to all deal with the past few days (she says as she stares into her hallway that is loaded with daughter's "college stuff"). Got a call from my son that he is coming home with three of his team mates for a home cooked meal. 3 hour drive each way....but he certainly knew how to put a smile on my face! Looks like steaks, his favorite potato salad, veggies and tossed salad are on the menu tonight! BOTH of my college kids said they never appreciated a good steak as much as when they are away at college and it is the first thing they BOTH ask for as a meal. As I gaze out the window tho...looks like hubby will be barbequing in the pouring rain....but I'm sure there will be a smile on his face nonetheless. Big Grin.

You've had an eventful weekend!. Hope you are weathering your daughter's decision well. Sounds like she knows her own mind, though. I have a good friend whose daughter was a swimmer on scholarship to a Big Ten university. She went through the same experience. Their training is grueling, and there's so much college life they have to sacrifice. Like your daughter, she walked away, enrolled in a different school and completed her college education happy as a clam. Best of luck to you all!

Steak sounds good -- I think I'll change the menu tonight...

It's my sons 18th birthday today and in five minutes I am going to be outside firing up the grill for, you guessed it, steak!

Wow! is right. Well at least she knows what she doesn't want. It'll be easier on you guys to be able to visit both kids at the same time though. And she'll maybe have her older brother to look after her, too.

Well, son and his team mates just left to head back to PSU. It was SO NICE to have them in the house even if for only a couple of hours. Steaks turned out great too...and hubby didn't get TOO WET bbqing in the rain! Big Grin. REALLY enjoyed the baseball talk, their predictions on starting line-ups, oppenents, practices, workouts, etc. It really helped to feed my baseball fix! Wink

Yes...it has been a tough week concerning my daughter...BUT I am confident it is the best thing for her in the long run. She really liked the school she was at, but the swimming just became a completely unhappy experience for her and she was dreading every practice/workout she went to. As much as she liked her school, she didn't want to stay there if she wasn't swimming because her whole "social circle" was the swim team. Tomorrow, she starts the job search so she can earn some money for school in the fall. I'm just so happy that she knew she needed to make a change and she didn't back down from her decision when pressured by other people. In the long run, this was a good experience for her to go thru at a relatively early age. And YES...it will be great having TWO
at P-S-U! Wink

Thanks for the birthday message luvbb! We have had a wonderful day with him.

I am so grateful I have two more younger boys because those 18 years were the fastest of my life.
