I always loved fall baseball. The weather was often spectacularly beautiful and the baseball laid back.
Please share any experiences your kids are having this fall.
Are they playing high school football instead? Are they in college? Are they playing in a local fall league? Are they going to camps or showcases? Are they playing juco ball? Any good pitching or hitting performances to report? Are they working out? What are their goals this fall and winter? What exactly are they doing?
All states are welcome to partcipate in an on-going dialog. Please let us know what is going on - high school or college
CD - No reports from me, but I hope some others share. I too love fall ball! Nothing is better than listening to a bat hit a ball on a beautiful and cool night!!! I may get to catch a game this weekend depending on the weather. It's decided to start raining here this week and not stop!!

lafmom - it seems like you and I are catching the last train for the coast. Sometimes it is sad how things turn out. There was a time when this forum was a-buzz with stories and excitement. Maybe someday it can be revived...

Ok, let's revive it CD. Does pro ball count? No fall ball as originally planned. After surgery to relieve an impingement problem two weeks ago, 12 weeks rehab! He will get a room at the inn and meals from his employer, has to show up every morning 5 days a week for stretching, conditioning, tossing, running and eventually throwing along with rehab, but truthfully he'd much rather be doing something else.

I have posted other places how small the baseball world is at the higher levels of the game. When my son was still in high school, I started tuning into Coastal Carolina games in 2005 when David was a freshman. I heard the call of the game when he made his first college appearance against Coastal. He pitched extraordinary for his first time out and in a hostile environment. Several years later we met in a regional in Myrtle Beach where our sons faced each other in a game. This same experience has happened over and over again with many other long-term members of the hsbbweb. Too many times to be a coincidence...
Thanks CD, just one of those weird things for DK, hopefully someone has found a solution and things will get better for him. That was his first appearance...lol. I remember they attended a tournie first weekend and Dave said it was FREEZING! It's a very small world, who would ever think son's first game in AA this summer was against (the other pitcher) one of his very good friends or that I have watched some of your son's play and didn't realize it at the time. That never stops happening, I am awaiting a DK and ED match up in AA in the near future. Many of our kids have faced one another at some time or another and will continue to do so in years to come (hopefully). Some whose sons have moved on to the next level will find a void with no reports for fall ball, but I can assure you that their off season work is very important for spring and you will find their reports of spring training very interesting and enlightening. FWIW, the training facility for the Rays is awesome and the weather is better in feb/march than in South Carolina! Make sure that you come!

I did get to catch a fall ball game yesterday. It was delightfully cool and sunny yesterday after a week of pouring rain. While the game was very one sided making it less than fun to watch, I did get to see a new stadium I hadn't been in before. Champions Field in Florence KY which is the home of Florence Freedom, an Independent team in the frontier league I believe. Nice smaller stadium - I'm going to have to catch a game there next year.
TPM - Sorry to hear about DK!!

CD - Those Harley shops are nice! Years ago my brother asked me to go to the one here in Lexington to get something for him. He lives in Alabama. I did so with a bit of a preconceived notion about what I would find. Was I wrong!!! Harley is serious business! A nice, clean, LARGE store with folks that taking biking very seriously. Not the steretype I had in mind. Hope Ty enjoys his job!!

During the minor league season this year, my son got to visit Orange County Choppers during one of his road trips in NY. Unfortunately, neither Big Paul nor Little Paul were around that day.
BTW - he loved his experience in the Hudson Valley of NY. Great fans/people up there, wonderful ball park, and beautiful area of the country.
We have spent two rainly weekends in Long Island waiting for the rain to stop. Spent most of one Saturday in the hotel room watching football. We did make a couple of trips to the beaches of LI to see how the other half lives.
With artifical turf fields the games are never cancelled until the last minute. Once the rain stops the fields are playable in about 2 hours. Grass and dirt the games are cancelled the day before and you can go home. No complaints though. I get to spend some time with Jr. who recently got his license and is always running somewhere.
Best of all I got to meet TRhit who is helping a friend's son. A very nice man with a passion to help young baseball players.
Forgot to mention that once the rain stopped some pretty good baseball was played on 4 soggy fields.

fills - thanks for the great update!
FWIW - It has been raining for over a week here with no end in sight. It feels like winter already
The weather here has been pretty good, but that's suppose to end Saturday and probably mess up my plans to watch fall baseball that day...

Well that is just aweful HC!
Has Zach reported his first college basehit yet? I can still remeber that phone call like it was yesterday.
Junior is a junior playing s****r and fall ball for his travel team and high school team. His travel team is in a Sunday league and doing some local showcase tournaments. He'll do a couple of local camps.
His schedule is tight. He has s****r M-F along with one baseball team practice and two workouts I do with him in the evenings. He's also lifting twice a week before school. He's only pitching for his high school team in the fall. He's plays in the field for his travel team. Then there's homework.
