I would be interested in some feedback about Marshall University and the area surrounding it as it relates to students. I realize the baseball staff is new, so I don't expect any feedback about them. I am primarily interested in the general attitudes in your part of the world about the university.
Thanks in advance.

Uncle, Here's a link to a fairly recent thread in another forum that might have some info for you.

Perhaps some folks here will have some additional scoop.

When I think of Marshall, I think of Randy Moss, Chad Pennigton, and Byron Leftwich. I think up till now that has been a possible conflict in that the school's focus may have been primarily football. Maybe the new coaching staff can change this perception noidea

Uncle Ethan:

lafmom's thread reference will tell you about baseball. The area surrounding Marshall is called Huntington and it is one of the nicest small cities in America. It has some good resturants, a good size city park, and [I think] a minor league hockey team.

The school is considered by many to be a school with lots of options for majors and minors and historically not too tough academically.

TW344 is right about Huntington. It is a nice small town. However the Huntington Blizzards of the ECHL are no longer playing. I believe their last season may have been 2004? And I would have to agree with CD about football being the top dog. Maybe the new coaching staff will be able to change the attitude. They play in a pretty tough baseball conference?
