800 days ago, I gave my 06 grad a big hug and told him we only had 1000 more days to hug each other before he left for school. Well he laughed at me. Today it is now only 200 days until he leaves to play baseball at college. The last 800 days have flown by, I hate to think how fast these last 200 will fly.

Bags....just keep getting those hugs in while you have him under your roof! Plus....instead of 200 hugs....why don't you give him THREE a day and make it 600 hugs!!!!

We are counting the days down as well. Once we get rolling into the HS season and then the summer team which will end at the end of July first of August it will be off to school in mid-August time will just fly by!
JT I told my wife that at graduation night I will have to sit at the top of the arena by myself so that I don't make a fool out of myself! I know the tears of joy will be flowing from this old softy dad and coach! I'm already getting teary eyed!
and oh . . . did I mention how often you'll see him on weekends once his out of town room-mates/team-mates find out your dinner schedule, and that you have a TV, a fridge, and washer/dryer that doesn't eat quarters

Bags - That senior year is such a special time. I absorbed every minute I could of my son, baseball, and his friends last spring. It will go in a flash.
I remember sharing with '03Parent last year how I was dreading the end of what was such a wonderful chapter in our lives and how I felt a bit sad to see son move on. Her advice was "you'll feel different when you experience him in college". She was right. There are so many adventures awaiting your son that you will marvel in those opportunities as well as the maturity he gains when he leaves home. It's amazing and heartwarming. Enjoy this spring but look forward to next spring too!!!

Thanks for the advice but I still bet the tears will be flowing down the cheeks at the end of the school year. All though we can't wait to get to UK in the fall!
Speaking of UK! WOW! They have won their last two home games by 1 or 2 points each. If they were on the road or at a neutral site I really think they would have lost those two games? What do you think lafmom?
We hope to get down for a baseball game against Northwestern and go to the Florida game on March 5th! Should be exciting?
Buckeye - I can promise you that the tears will flow! That senior year is very special. Senior night was one I'll never forget, but our actual last game on the home field, was the hardest. None of the seniors or us parents wanted to leave. One of the dads that did the music put on Kenny Rogers "The Greatest" and we did a bunch of pics on the field. It was a night of many tears and hugs!!!! Then the very last game when we lost in the tournament - it probably took an hour for us to finally clear the field. A wonderful group of players, parents, and coaches - I can get the tears going right now thinking about it!!!
Make sure and let me know when you all are coming. I'll get to some UK games to watch son's former teammates, but at this point, trying to figure out how to see all these kids that I would like to, is not going very smoothly. I have one game that's a definate on my calendar to see a friend's son's team the end of April up in Illinois. Other than that - I'm kinda waitin' and seein'. I'll give you some names of folks to introduce yourself to though.
As far as the basketball team - I have followed them since I was a kid. I can honestly say that I've never seen a UK team like them. Today - first half and second half looked like two different teams.
