I attened/currently attend a NAIA school in Urbana Ohio, Urbana Universtiy and I was just wondering what the buzz is about the place, if any at all. I haven't returned to school yet and was just curious as to how well known the school is, we don't get alot of fan support so I doubt that there is any rumblings and grumblings that people have heard about the place.
It's a small school roughly 1,500 students and Coached by Brian Harrison.
Thanks for any info

How come you haven't returned to school yet? Will they allow you to play if you enroll in January? The "buzz" I heard regarding Urbana is that they fired a coach for allowing some inappropriate behavior on a spring trip. Don't know if they have recovered from that.

I haven't returned to school yet because I have some family matters that need to be taken care of before I return, and yes I will be able to return in January, hopefully everything will be settled by then.
You don't happen to know which Coach it was do you, and if anythings happened to the players involved?

Doc -- Sorry to hear of problems at home. Hope all will be settled and that you can return to school. Since you were on the team last year, you probably heard about the incident(s) during the spring trip the year before (2004). That coaching staff is now gone. I see that the team didn't have the greatest season last year. That can happen with a change in coaching staff. Hopefully things will get turned around this year. It would appear that the football team is having a lot of success this fall. Maybe that will inspire some enthusiasm for the baseball team in the spring! What was your impression of the team last spring?

I thought you were talking about problems in the spring '05 season trip, because to my knowledge there wasn't any problems.
Yes the new Coaching staff that was put in place to me seems to be great, I was recruited in the fall of '04 by Coach Harrison and his staff. Then I enrolled in January of '05 and have loved being there. (If you want to hear my whole story you can check out the Canadian Forum in regards to infor for Canadians re college... etc.) I miss it immensely.
Coach has a really good program, once he gets guys committed to being a part of this program, that was hard, I guess a lot of guys in the fall quit and then when I was there in the spring we lost 4 or 5 more guys due to quitting or eligibility. We were really short staffed, especially in pitching we only had 7 guys at the end of the season and 3 of us were freshmen.
Yes the football team sure is doing well, the buzz around the team heading into this season for football was if they don't win it all this year they never will.
As far as my outlook on our team we have a very looooong way to go, but I think Coach has recruited and brought in the right guys that'll help make the trip quicker and we should see positive results this season. Yes last season was horrible we went 7-43 and 1-19 in conference. Coach ran a successful team when he was the Coach at Tri-C so he deffinately knows what hes doing and knows how to win, it's just the guys from the old coaching regime have to believe in him and what he's doing, once that gets settled we'll be a decent team, it just might take a while.

Doc My son just sent his LOI in yesterday and he is excited to be going to Urbana! He had some other schools to choose from but in the end he really liked what coach Harrison had to say about turning the program around! We live 50 miles straight down S.R. 68 and we plan on going to see as many games as we can.
