Ryan Siegel has always enjoyed vacations to the beach.
Soon, the standout baseball player will be able to hit the sand as much as he wants — well, between games, practice and classes.
Siegel, an incoming senior at Freeport, has committed to continue his baseball career at Coastal Carolina, which fields an NCAA Division I program and isn't far from Myrtle Beach (S.C.).
"I went down to South Carolina for a series of trips," Siegel said. "We went to Virginia Tech, drove through Myrtle Beach and went to Radford (Va.) on the way home."
Siegel was sold on the middle stop, Coastal Carolina, which is located in Conway, S.C.
"They have a tradition there," said Siegel, who was recruited as an outfielder. "Their baseball program is second to none. They have a Top 25 team and a chance to be in Omaha for the College World Series. Everything was pretty appealing to me from a baseball standpoint."
