Hey I am new to the discussion board and I am looking for help.I have a just turned 14 year old son.He will once again play on his high school team but wonder if he needs to play someting other than recreation ball in the summer when school is out.It seems here in Kentucky all the aau/travel teams are in a clique and it is hard to even hear of tryouts let alone know any teams in the area.Any info/help would be greatly appreciated.

titan - I'm sure there are a lot of travel teams for kids your son's age in Louisville. Often times, these teams scout area talent and will approach the player about playing on their team. If that doesn't happen, have your son investigate where others are playing and ask for a contact name. You might also check with some of the larger facilities in your area, such as Champions for info. Those places are run by folks who are typically very knowledgeable about resources and connections in their areas. Also, don't leave his HS coach out of the loop. Speak with him about suggestions or ideas. Where do most of the other teammates play? Being in Louisville, your son will have many more options than kids in many areas.

Go to baseball section of usssa.org. Search for your state and son's age group. At this time of year there may be more listed under 2007, so look up the 13u's. Click on the team's roster. Often the coach's name and contact information is listed.
