I was just curious on how some of you get ready for gametime. How do you get focused. Music? Exercise? Drills? What do you do?

Personally, I don't need music or drills to get focused. I'm pumped enough to play that I am focused just because its baseball. But I listen to music because its cool, kind of makes it dramatic. It depends on my mood, though. I can listen to hard rock one day, rap the next...

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True.

I am the wrong person to be giving advice for something like this but I actually listen to music to take my mind off the game. I know that sounds weird but I am too focused to the point to where I over think everything. Playing night games doesn't exactly help too much because the suspense of the game is there all day. Talk about a weird problem, hugh?

This is a big thing with me, and I try to develop a routine every season with this. Road games, music is a big deal with me. On the way there, definitely got the music going. I usually try and find some way to exercise, just little things, before games. For example, doing pull-ups at the entrance of the dugout.

when i was high school we had a pregame meal then we had about 40 min to get to the feild for bp. in that time listen to music while and take our time to get dressed in lockeroom. then hit bp laugh and have fun but still keep serious. coaches help keep it loose. then about a half hour to chill play pepper talk do what we do, then warm up and play. ill see how much different things are this spring at the next level.

how do u guys relax before game time? because it seems like that always when im on the field, before every pitch i think too much about wat's going to happen, wat might happen, etc. and im jus not ready to field the ball cleanly when it is hit to me. any advice is appreciated.

Hope you all dont mind an old guy posting here - my son is a 15 year old Soph and plays V. I expained to him that the pitching and hitting you are seeing now will be exactly the same 2 years from now....think about it...your experience and talent level will just go up and up and the level of play from your competitors will remain the same.

I think you will find that when you are a Senior the HS game will be easy for you - now the jump to college may be something different. Have fun guys!!!!!

Old guy leaving now.......

To our military men, women and families - You are all awesome - that flag is yours and I thank you for the opportunity for giving me the honor of removing my cap prior to every baseball game I see.

strange as it sounds, during a game, you should pick something out in the environment such as a house, tree, pole, etc. and just focus on it for a second. and think about the importance about it. the important thing about a tree is that it has green leaves. the important thing about a house is that there's people in it. the important thing about a baseball is that it's round. just anything to get your mind off and focus on something else, and you will pretty much go back to the real world focused and relaxed. it works for me...
