My son's last year of HS ball. He is a pitcher only in summer because that's his club's philosophy, however he's quite a good hitter. Haven't bought a bat in several years, but thought it might make a good Xmas gift for his "last hurrah" as a hitter.
What's good these days? To show you how long it's been....I think Redline (or something like that) was the last bat we bought.
Thanks!

i usually prefer to use easton bats over louville bats...to me they have a better "pop" and a better feel than louisvilles.

Louisville Slugger TPX Gen 1 was the hottest bat last year. I have heard there is a new model called "Armour" coming out that is said to be better.

Beware of the Gen X 1 bats, our team has broken 3 completely in half (not just cracked but the whole barrel of the bat flying out towards the pitcher) this fall. The pitches that broke the bats were only about 82-83 mph.

I agree w/ matadordad, the Gen1X had serious problems. No life after 2 weeks of use. I mean totally dead. A couple others on the team cracked. My son started using Easton bats(Zcore and Connexion). He likes both, but prefers the Connexion.

Do not get the Genx1. The last game I played I saw this bat get broken in half by a 70mph fastball. Currently, I am using the Easton Zcore Titanium. I am satisfied with the bats quality so far.

I used the Gen 1x for most of the year last year and I think we ran through 3 as a team. 2 broke in half and the other just cracked. If you buy one of these beware, they seem to break like wood. I like swinging the Easton 777 more than the gen 1x anyway.

What does everyone think about using a 34 inch bat? What size do most college level hitters use?

EK6,
If you can swing the 34 and feel comfortable with it, go for it. I can swing it but I like the feel of a 33 better. Our Coach at ETSU tries to get us to swing a 34 but the majority of the team swings 33, and I think that's the same elsewhere too, as far as I've seen anyway.
