I'm also looking to get a new mitt. I like Akadema, but I don't remember how the mitt sizing works. I mean I know what is offered, 32.5, 34, etc. but I'm not sure what would be appropriate for my hand.

I can say that I have a medium sized hand, thicker more than longer hand and fingers.

I'm glad some one asked this, Dad is looking to get a catchers mitt to catch for Son. I have no idea how the sizing works sometimes they say 14 or 13.5. Will some one please explain this.

"Sure they get the hits, make the outs, score the runs, strike em out and get the glory!" "But who drove?"

It measures the circumference. Larger the hand, larger the glove. I don't have big hands but used a 34 for a while and wasn't a problem. Now I switched to a 33.5.

Baseball, it is said, is only a game. True.

Ya I have a 34 inch and like it a lot. It gives you that extra bit to hang onto those foul tips. If you have a medium sized hand like me Id say look for a 34 inch one. But its your call in the end, not mine. Ive never had any experience with Akadema so I cant help you there. Sorry thats all I got.

The Rawlings Pro-Preferred are typically one of the smallest mitts on the market. All-Star usually has the biggest.
I've worn all types and sizes, and personally prefer a small to medium size mitt.
The faster the pitching, the less time a catcher has to react to the pitch. So, if you seem to be a little behind the pitch, a bigger mitt might be best for you. If you're catching the ball just fine, a smaller, lighter mitt may be more comfortable.

As a rule of thumb, I've always tried to use the smallest mitt that I was comfortable and effective with, whether it be a 32 or a 33 inch...
