I previously played a game yesterday and a guy smashed a ball down the line (i play 3rd base) and i usually am quick enough to get those kinds of balls but being that i just recently moved from JV to varsity the competition has accelled. Any techniques i could do or anything to improve my speed and quickness and seeing the ball better and moving towards it? I was thinking just hit a lot of ground balls but I wasnt sure if that was the best way.

Dont Try..

your footwork of course is key, if the ball is hit to your right make sure your right foot moves first.

There are all kinds of agility drills out there to improve quickness in the feet. Most basic would be a lot of jump rope. Look around for other agility drills though. Try DB drills for football if you know any football players.
