I used to love baseball, and playing and practicing, but this year is different. I don't enjoy anything about it, I am struggling with things that I used to be fine with and I no longer desire to play. Our practices run 5-6 hrs a day, and next week we will be going to a week long tournament in Florida that I have been dreading. I am considering quitting because I no longer care about the game like I used to and I have been nothing but unhappy since the season started. Its about everything; the coaches are crazy, I'm not the same as I usually am, and its just lost the fun factor that always used to be there. I just want to hear some opinions on the matter, and just needed to air this out somewhere. By the way I am 17 and a junior in HS.

I would at least go to your tournament and make your decision after it. Make sure that you think it through a lot though.

When I used to play football, I knew it was time to give it up when it wasn't fun when I was on the bench, on the field, or in practice. However, I did finish off the season.

I know, I usually like to finish what I start, but this season won't be over until the beginning of June and don't want to be miserable for all that time. I'm thinking about it. . .

thats tough.I know how it is when the right guys aren't always playing,or when you cant have fun and just play baseball anymore,because coaches are shouting the technical part of the game to you during the game

I would do what you feel is best for yourself.Do you see yourself as a college prospect at any level?If you do,stick around to use the facilities.If you dont,and you truly are done with the game,quitting may be the way to go.

I hope you stay and work things out,because one coach shouldnt ruin a great game for you

a123 this year i feel the same at times and like i start and everything i just dont enjoy it and im with my friends too. but i used to love it every game and every practice but like now i just get tired at times and like its just draining me. but like futurecatcher said if u have a future in baseball stick with it cuz it can take u places... just think it thru like in my case i took sum days off and now its like im enjoying it again so if u think that would help try that

i think it all depends on what your feelings are. I am a sophomore 2 year starter on varsity and my dad started coaching at my school in the middle of the year. I thought about quiting because my dad and i dont get along real well and he always made me mad to where i could hardly play. I decided not to because i cant really quit the sport i love the most. Its getting better now. but it pretty much depends on the way you feel hope i could be of some help

I know of a few people who really regret quitting any sport, baseball or regardless, because of reasons related to the coaching staff. They believed they would stick it to the coach by saying they have had enough, but really the were just sticking it to themselves. However, if a coach is causing deeper problems than just playing time and being a "jerk", that's a different situation.

Its not so much just the coaches as it is me not enjoying it at all anymore, I worry too much throughout the entire season, and I will be deciding what to do after the tournament in Florida.

I do not have a future in baseball, but I have played the last 10 years of my life. I will be going military after HS, and right now I have alot to think about, I really need to get a job, and sort some things out. I'll see what happens.

just remeber guys and i dont mean to be rude but probably none of you guys will have a "FUTURE: in baseball,THATS why school and grades are more important,,,find something other than baseball that you would "DO" for free and pursue another venue as well.. just remember SCHOOL FIRST!

I know how you feel, there was a season like that for me a couple years ago. I mean it was at the start of the season and all I wanted to do was hang out with my friends but baseball is the only place where I can go and just froget about all of my problems so I decided not to quit and now I love it more then ever. But I mean in the end its still a game so if your not having fun then you should stop if you think its best. Like someone said before if you have a good chance of getting into college with it then I would stick with it to at least see if you start to come around

It happened to me actually, earlier this year. I had alot of things going on, and it was really tough making practices, and the fun factor was at zero. And I was really considering it. I only told a few people. My dad, and 2 friends. But deep down I think I to stick it out and wait as long as i can...sure enough as the season came closer, the love started coming back. and suddenly as even more into it. i would get annoyed when i couldnt make practices (like it was originally) and i couldnt wait until we had our first game. sometimes i wonder how i ever considered quitting...maybe ill never know...

i guess what i have to say is that u might be going through a phase. and it might be because you just don't like your coaches, idk. but i say give it as long as possible...hopefully youll feel that spark...
