Hey guys what are your plans for college?I realize a lot of us want to try to play at the next level after HS,but for a lot of others it seems like playing in high school will be the final place to play.

I have been hurt so much(just coming back to practice this week after sitting for over a month now.......again)that I am preparing for life after baseball.Thats not to say when and if I can ever get my injuries to a non nagging,comfortable level I wont try to best to get to college with ball,but its been rather painful for over a year.

And what will decide where you do go?Major,Price,requirements,social life?

I narrowed my choices down to a few schools based on these factors as well as location (not too close, not too far), then took baseball into it and I basically had my school.

Let me tell you from experience. If you think you want to try and play, then go for it. Go to any school that will give you a chance to play. If it doesnt work out, you will always be able to transfer and finish your education elsewhere.

im done playing college ball finaly, but i can say a gave it my best shot and it didnt work out. I cant imagine what it would be like knowing i never tried to make it happen.

ya i would definetly try to play. i mean if you are anything like me then baseball is your life. Give it a try and if it doesnt work out for you well at least you know you tryed. Hope it works out.

Baseball is my life. Thats what caused me to get hurt time and time again. My summer these last two years were spent lifting 5 days a week(some times more,not a good idea,I know)throwing long toss,hitting,and doing sprints. I did something 7 days a week, and for hours at a time. When I returned from my injury to my back,I jumped back into full practice,instead of easing in.Got hurt again.

I agree,try to play as long as possible.Thats what I will try to do.But after seeking treatment after treatment,if it still hurts like this next summer,I think I May be done.I pray Im wrong

I feel your pain completely. I had planned to play college baseball too, then I found out I had been playing with a torn labrum (found out after maxing 72 at a SEC camp). All I can say is, don't give up, exhaust every option possible, and get to the best doctor you can possibly get to. I hope that your back heals up and you can get back onto the ballfield...goodluck

thanks guys,its going to be a long 5 months(3 in a back brace,2 in rehab).Just got the bad news this past friday,after I had practiced pain free for 3 days.

Torn Labrum?Wow that's gotta be painful,especially when trying to throw with it. Problem is when you under perform at a large camp like your SEC camp,it sometimes scares schools off. Missouri State got to watch me play hurt, and Im sure it didnt work to my benefit. What SEC camp was it?

So it seems like most tried to play through college.Thats the goal of most,including myself. Its going to be hard to play again,given its my senior year. Hard to go out there knowing you are one swift move away from injury again.2nd fractured vertebrae in 1 year

Good topic. I'm going to go to a small liberal arts college on the west coast somewhere. 2000-4000 people should do it.

I'm not the best player on my team (Jr. LHP throwing in the mid 70s) so the small school should help to limit the competition a little.

I have also heard that these small schools can be just as competitive in athletics as larger schools.

I would like to go to a Pac-10 school. My top choices wuld probably be WSU, USC, and ASU. They all have good ball clubs.

I'm not exactly d1 material so I'm planing on going d2 or d3. Mary-hardin Baylor has givin me a little bit of a look

Futurecatcher, sorry to hear about your misfortune, and I hope you get to finish your high school baseball career healthy and successfully. As for me, I love baseball more than anything in this world (other than family and friends) and would love to play in college. I have several small NAIA schools interested and an offer from a Division II JUCO but I've also had the desire to go into the military for some time and I might very well end up doing that instead. There's still plenty of time to think about it. Good luck with your future

I hope to attened George Mason and major in Sport Management or go to Kansas, Louisville, DII schools like Northern Kentucky.

Best of luck to you seniors! It's a crazy, wacky, mind-boggling ride. Som,etimes you'll feel like you're being beaten to a pulp on an anvil, and the very next day you'll realize you're actually being forged into manhood.
