Just curious on what would be a good warmup on a day when I would be maxing out on my squat.

Thanks for your help.

This isn't what you're looking for, but what is the purpose for maxing out?

To find out how heavy I should lifting to improve.

I started doing our football squatting workout, with 5 sets of 5 reps on Monday and Wednesday, as well as 5-4-3-2-1 on Friday.

These are based off of a max, which I don't know what mine is completely. I estimated, but still the workout feels as though it is not as hard as it should/could be.

Understood. Our programs are based off of a 1RM as well, but we never actually have the user do a 1RM. Just no need for baseball. You can do a 3 rep set and it will be about 85-90% of your 1RM. This is much safer and will not put you at the injury risk a true 1RM will. Be sure to do at least 4-5 "warm-up" sets working progressively closer to the weight you will use and be sure your body is ready to handle such a challenge.

Jon, I don't understand why people are so against a 1 rep max. How is doing 100% of your capabilities more dangerous than doing 85-90% of your capabilities 3 times?

Weaver, it surprises me that your are doing squats 3 times a week.

Less room for error and most individuals don't have the capability to perform a 1RM and maintain proper movement patterns.

Besides, a 3RM has a better carryover to most sports anyway.

Most of my program require 3 times a week of squatting. Different version of the squat each time (i.e back squat, front squat, overhead squat)
