Work your abs, legs and your core for more batspeed. This helps you get your explosive strength to explode your hips and start your swing. The swinging of heavier bats does a little bit, but only a little bit of batspeed over a long time. Depending on how old you are also, you can grow to gain more batspeed.
Simple Physics for a swing:
You have a restricted swivel: your hips and upper body (restricted meaning that you have a restricted range of motion). You have X number of inches to get your bat from 0-(anywhere from 90-110+ mph at major league level) and to stop it within the Y number of inches. You need muscle to start an object, you need muscle to stop an object.
These muscles are your abs, your quads, your glutes, your lats, your Flexor Carpi Ulnaris (forearms), and your triceps brachi (chances are there are more.)
This physics analysis also applies to throwing also.
