you will get lots of responses and a lot depends on how many calories your son eats in a given day. One hour prior to game my son eats a peanut butter and honey sandwich(should be on wheat bread but he wont eat wheat bread)That would count for 2 breads,3 fats and 2 carbs with honey. he drinks 8 oz of gatorade with 4 oz of water and one scoop whey protein right before game or any training day.. dinner: can be a whole lot of things, tonight we are having spaghetti with meat sauce, he has a game tomorrow so like carbs and proteins night before. alway have a snack before bedtime. My son has a good protein shake with lots of fruit, yogurt etc. , or many nights he has a 16 oz glass of milk, a cup of peanuts and a banana. nutrition is vital for good performance. Typical lunch: 2 peanut and butter and jelly or honey sandwhiches,(sometimes he gets a chicken cesear salad at school)and that replaces one sandwich. Two granola bars, 1 cup of nuts, fruit, pretzels or some type of chips. this is right off of a nutritionist diet sheet. well balanced diet is key to good game performance, and staying healthy.(also good multivitamin and essential fatty acids).

The reason i think i may switch is because school is a super big hassle in the food department. As a junior i have off campus privleges but there is no where but McD's and Carls Jr. And that is the last thing that i want to eat, i hate that stuff. Usually i take chicken and white rice with some soy sauce, its good. But i need a change. PB and J on wheat with some extras is definently the fix.

The reason I ask this question is because I have the same problem as akfirstbasebmen. I was just wondering what would be an easy and nutritional meal to bring to school so I can stay away from the not-so-healthy lunch choices at my school.
Believe it or not Bulldog 19, the school district i am in this last year switched tot he nutritional food. Every single bit of it is packaged and tastes like ****, and i question the true nutritional value of it because it is packaged. The reason i dont eat it is mainly the taste, but the other reason is that the salad i had at the beginning of the year gave me a really bad headache. So no mos.
The good news is that i usually have a bowl of wheaties for lunch haha i can keep it all in the teachers lounge because im a Teachers Aid for my class right before lunch. Before i said that i have off campus lunch but all there is is McD's and CJ's, i DONT eat that ****.

breakfast: Honey Bunches of Oats Cerial+Banana.Juice or Oatmeal and Banana
Lunch: I bring my lunch to avoid cafeteria food.Usually a turkey sandwhich(with lettuce, mustard, tomato, slice of pepperjack sometimes) with yogurt, banana or apple, and wheat thins or sun chips
Dinner: usually whatever my mother makes.Example is something like a chicken breast, rice, steamed veggies or steak, green beans, and salad
It works for me

Eggs...scrambled eggs take 5 min. Make 2 eggs and 2 egg whites. That's only 160 calories but majority protein. Protein shakes, if you are comfortable drinking them. A cup of almonds is always a good source.

I believe that you should also never change your dieting habits on game days as well. Stick with an easy protein-rich diet plan. Cut out all sweets, fats, oils, etc. if one of your goals is to lose some fat. The correct way to lose lbs, if you want, is approximately 2 lbs. per week. Anything more is considered unhealthy.
