What are your thoughts regarding participating in Cross Country (5k) as an off season sport ?

We have had pitchers who ran cross country--they felt it kept them in shape and built endurance---hey if it works for them why not

If he is looking at it as doing another sport for his high school I would never discourage anyone from participating in another sport. At the same time if he id doing it as a way to better his pitching I would think he would be better off working core and leg strength. Doing sprint and interval training and some explosive plyo training, not to mention arm strengthing.

I agree with 2bagger. If you're doing it because you enjoy cross country, then definitely do it. If you are doing it just to get into shape for baseball, then I think there are other things that will better prepare you for the baseball season.
