Just before i am ready to lift weights or run out onto the field for a game.. my body immediatly feels tired and i start to yawn..

I eat very well before the game or workouts.. and i am pumped up with my music to go lift weights or play ball... but when i start to think about the game and/or workouts more and start to walk onto the field or into the gym my body is tired all of a sudden like all of my adrenaline is gone..

Is it just me?? Do i need to motivate myself more??

Don't worry, it's not just you. In my experience, this is a common occurance. I did (do) the same thing, and have known mnay others who do the same. I AM NOT A DOCTOR, but recall medical people telling me that this is a common stress response. As you prepare to train hard, or to compete, your mind/body feels a certain level of stress/anxiety. This is a good thing for a true competitor. This moment of "fatigue" or "draining" is your body's way of responding to the stress. Accept it for that, and push through the barrier. If you are like me (and many others I have known), your energy comes back within 5-10 minutes of starting the physical activity. Push through, knowing that you are preparing to compete at a high level. Personally, this is why I always liked t ostart my preparation with a 15-30 minute run. By the time I finish the run, I've pushed through this wall, and am mentally and physically ready to give my best.

thxs... I remember in the off-season when my coaches would have us jog for 10-15 before we lift weights.. It helped my tremendiously...

What i have also noticed is When i am playing (i play outfield) sometimes i get tireed AGAIN and i feel lazy during the 4-5 inning.. i am totally fine jogging out onto the field then when the inning starts i immediately become tired.. it is robably the stress factor of a competitor..

does anyone have any tips for me 2 do that might help?

I feel the same thing as you. I'll be standing in the batters box getting the signs from my coach and my legs just feel tired

Yes, very common, and as pointed out a stress response. Everyone handles it differently. I do not fight it. I like to sit quietly before a game. Then once game starts it goes away, usually after my first AB. I actually think it's a good thing, means I'm in th egame. The few times I have not had it I was worried and di not end up playing as well. That may just be coincidence though, but my two cents.

Getting tired in the fifth is most likely a nutrititional issue. What do you eat/drink during the 8 hours leading up to a game and during the game?

I eat bowl of rice krispies, orange juice, 2 pieces of bacon... then at lunch.. a whole bottle of water, nutrigrain bar, peanut butter and jelly sandwhich or chicken sandwhich for protein, and some original sun chips...

My campus is outside and it gets very hot.. alot of the players have 2 force themselves to eat because the heat makes us not hungry...

what would u recomend me changing?
