Do you need a masters degree to be a strength coach for a college program?

Diff. schools have diff qualifications. But the majority do not have Master's degrees.

I must disagree Jon. From what I've seen, many are requiring a Masters' Degree to go along with certification.

You may be able to get an internship or something along those lines, but I would say that a Masters' Degree is almost a necessity as well as NSCA certification.

Its not true. The large programs yes. But if you look at entire NCAA (D1-3) most don't even have strength coaches, let along a Masters degree.

I didn't make my post up. Just how it is right now.

Jon,
You are right and it is something that I hope changes over time. The industry is sufficiently developed that every college program should be able to put a person in there that actually knows what they are talking about and is properly educated and certified. I am so tired of hearing from "trainers" whose claim to fame is that have worked out for X years, but they never actually studied anything. Ugh.

Yeah it's too bad. Just comes down to funds unfortunately.

Agreed, training for X amount of years does not mean you know what your doing. With that said, "trainers" who can simply copy/paste and have read a few articles online, yet have never trained anyone, are equally to blame for the enormous amount of misinformation floating around.
