Hi All:

Glad to be a part of the site. I work with 15, 16 and 17 year players in southern Ontario. Any thoughts on off season conditioning programs? Right now I have my kids in the swimming pool doing lengths 2 nights a week and on the bikes and cross county ski simulaters two days a week for 30 minutes on each machine. Is it wise to add to this and if so, what should be added. Thanks.

Good idea to look at the programs put on by some of the major programs in your area. ie Ontario Blue Jays, Canadian T-Birds etc. Also look into the Cardinal School of baseball for your pitchers. I believe you can join as a team and the instructor is the former head pitching scout of thje Jays. You need more running. Swimming is a great conditioner but not the best way to train for baseball.

All these workouts are endurance-based. Since baseball is a game of quick short burts, weights and plyometrics are the best way to go.
