yeah the subject speaks for itself...what are some good exercises to continue on into the season in the weight room without worrying about tightening up? And would these be better done before or after games/practices?

a candle will stand out in a dark room. then again, the brightest candle has to fight to stand out in a room full of candles.

You can do this:

Eliminate your Core Lifts (like deadlifts, squats, bench)and sub them with precision excersises. You want to aim for High Rep/Lower Weight activites.
(This one works to maintain your gained muscle)

OR

Continue your off-season plan except lower weight/higer reps and stretch after your warm-up and then stretch after your workout.(and when i say this i mean with a stretch band and all that).

This is what I did last season, Is this what you want to do? Please an expert trainer correct me if im wrong!

Here's what to do...

I like 3 workouts during the season. Don't go over 30 minutes in the gym though.

Continue to perform squats, snatches, deadlifts, and cleans.

Do static stretches...

Also, you need to eat well. Don't drink soda, or eat food with a lot of sugar or any trans fatty acids (such as partially hygrogenated oils or vegtable shortenings). Eating junk food like that will slow down your recovery time.

Trust your body. Don't workout just because you want to just to keep 3 a week or something. Listen to your body. When your body has had enough... listen to it and stop.

Also, get a lot of sleep. When you sleep that is when a lot of good stuff happens (not in that way...). Sleep is the most important thing for good recovery.

Remember, the season is about recovery and maintenance. The offseason is where you get beter.
