Some players like to workout the day of the game and some do not. I would suggest lifting after the game, not before. But the only way you will know for yourself is trying. But I wouldn't attempt this for the first time before a meaningful game.

For our guys its a mixed bag, some lift before, others after. All of our guys thought go through pre-game core/ muscle activation work/ tissue work via massage and rollers, and manually stretched based on their individualized needs. Dana Cavalea CSCS
