My son last month broke his catching hand, of all places during practice, so couldn't yell much. LOL He had to have surgery and have pins put in til it healed. Which according to the surgeons it did just that. But now is the important part. He is attending Occupational therapy, but I don't know if that is enough. I think he is trying too hard to make it work again and He doesn't need to strain it further. So does anyone out there know of any exercises, or routines, or anything he can do to get this hand ready. He is out for Fall ball all season, and possibably winter ball, but he doesn't want to miss any spring with his HS. And has already signed to a travel team for 06, so need to get this hand working right. Thanks for any info.

BigDTurn'sMom,
Before you do anything get it cleared with the doctor! One of the better exercise aids for strengthening the hand is the rice bucket. Fill a 5 gallon bucket about 3/4 full with "Uncle Ben's" uncooked rice and work the hand in the rice bucket until you reach the bottom. Do this about three days a week for 10 minutes each day. Again, check with the Doctor.
Good Luck,
Fungo
