I was wondering if anyone has tried this supplement? I saw an ad for it in the latest Baseball America and it had testimonials from Casey Kotchman, Miguel Cairo, as well as a few other Big Leaguers on it. The active ingredient in it is Ecdisten. Can anyone tell me anything about this stuff?

It is a drug to treat giardia (beaver fever). It was used by the russians previously to improve athletic performance and is twice as effective as anobolic steroids in synthesising protein. Walks like a steroid and talks like a steroid.

It's ****. Plain and simple. Only the sites selling it have anything good to say about it. No references just bull about scientific studies.

Lee Priest said you get a better pump out of a bowl of fruit loops and a Kit Kat.

With all the controversy regarding what and what isnt in the baseball world today I find it interesting that BA, or any other major sports publication, would carry an ad for it

It's junk...it's basically bugs. Thats right comes from an insect. There was a study done in Russia years ago that showed a slight anabolic activity and supplment companies jumped all over it.

It's old news in bodybuilding circles, but looks like someone repackaged it, renamed it and paid some pro's for their testimonial.

Eat broccolli...it increases protein synthesis by 48%. If your luck, and I mean extremely lucky, you may get a 1% increase with this supplement.

Off topic: I thought he was talking about Cell-Tech?

On topic: Eat your veggies, much cheaper and more effective. Probably taste better too.

Ecdysten is a "miracle ingredient" in its supposed physiological effects, but has received anecdotal evidence at best, and many find that it has no effect whatsoever. Studies are on both sides of the road, so I would suggest going a more proven route with creatine and a very solid diet.
